On a calm day on the storied Old Course, even a bogey-free round by Fisher containing 11 birdies could not reel in overnight leader Hatton, who shot 6-under 66 for a three-stroke victory over his fellow Englishman.
ST. ANDREWS, Scotland (AP) — Defending champion Tyrrell Hatton opened up a five-shot lead heading into the final round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on Saturday.
A bogey-free 7-under-par 65 put Hatton in a commanding position to defend the title the Englishman won by four shots last year at St. Andrews, the home of golf.

The 24-year-old Englishman, who had a three-shot lead overnight, followed up a course record-tying, bogey-free 62 at the home of golf on Saturday with a 6-under 66 in the final round. He finished on a total of 23 under par (265).
CARNOUSTIE, Scotland (AP) — Sweden's Alex Noren matched the course record with an 8-under 64 at Carnoustie to take the first-round lead in the Dunhill Links Championship.
The 34-year-old Noren had eight birdies in a bogey-free round. He won the Scottish Open in July and the European Masters in Switzerland last month,
England's Ross Fisher was second after a 65 at Kingsbarns. Sweden's Joakim Lagergren and England's Matt Ford shot 66. Lagergren played Carnoustie, and Ford Kingsbarns.
CARNOUSTIE, Scotland (AP) — Alex Noren of Sweden was leading the Dunhill Links Championship after carding 64 at Carnoustie to equal the course record on Thursday.
The 34-year-old Noren, who won the Scottish Open in July and the European Masters last month, fired eight birdies to finish at eight-under-par.
The tournament is split between three courses, with players alternating between St. Andrews, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie.
BAD GRIESBACH, Germany (AP) — French golfer Alexander Levy wasted a four-shot lead but beat Ross Fisher of England in a playoff to win the shortened European Open on Sunday.
Levy had bogeys on the 16th and the 18th and narrowly missed a birdie putt on the 17th to finish the day at 2-under 69 and 19-under overall.
Fisher shot 7-under 64 on the final day but also missed a birdie putt on the 17th and tied with Levy on 19 under. Levy then made a birdie on the second playoff hole to claim the title.
BAD GRIESBACH, Germany (AP) — Frenchman Alexander Levy set a course record and opened up a six-shot lead before fading light shortened the second round of the European Open on Friday.
Levy will have to complete his round on the ninth hole on Saturday. Half the field will go out early Saturday for the second round, before the third round can start. Morning fog delayed start of play on both days so far.
