CHICAGO (AP) — Naji Marshall returned to the Xavier lineup after missing a game due to injury to score 19 points and grab 14 rebounds as the Musketeers opened the defense of their Big East Conference regular season title by handing DePaul a second straight home court defeat, 74-65 on Saturday afternoon.
Marshall and Tyrique Jones both sat out Xavier's win over Detroit Mercy December 21 with injuries. Both came back to score in double digits.

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — Hayden Dalton sank six 3-pointers and hauled in 10 rebounds to lead Wyoming to an 89-75 win over San Jose State on Saturday.
Dalton was 6 of 12 from the field and hit all four of his free throws to finish with 22 points and pick up his sixth straight 20-point game. Justin James added 17 points, Alan Herndon had 15 points and Cody Kelley, Hunter Maldonado and Alexander Aka Gorski had 11 points each for Wyoming (17-10, 8-6 Mountain West Conference).
Hopkins, Taylor lead Fresno State past San Jose State 77-57
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Jaron Hopkins scored 16 of his 20 points in the second half when Deshon Taylor scored 12 of his 19 and Fresno State pulled away for a 77-57 win over San Jose State on Wednesday night.
Hopkins had two quick baskets to open the second half for the Bulldogs (18-8, 8-5 Mountain West Conference), who led 32-31 at intermission. He also had the last four points of a 10-0 run that made it 60-39 midway through the second half.
Logwood sparks New Mexico late in 71-68 victory
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Sam Logwood scored the Lobos' final six points and New Mexico denied San Jose State its first Mountain West Conference win this season, beating the Spartans 71-68 on Saturday.
Logwood's basket with 3:50 to go gave the Lobos the lead for good at 64-62. He added another basket and four more free throws in the final 1:49.
UNLV sweeps San Jose State 76-67
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Brandon McCoy had 22 points and 17 rebounds, Jordan Johnson added 15 points with six assists and UNLV beat San Jose State 76-67 on Wednesday night.
Tervell Beck added 12 points and Shakur Juiston had 10 points and nine rebounds for UNLV (16-6, 5-4 Mountain West), which ended an 11-game series losing streak to San Diego State on Saturday.
James leads Wyoming to 90-86 win over San Jose State in OT
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Justin James scored 33 points including nine in overtime that made the difference as Wyoming notched its third straight win with a 90-86 victory over San Jose State on Saturday.
James hit a 3-pointer midway in the extra period and followed it with a layup and a jumper to help give the Cowboys (14-7, 5-3 Mountain West) an 88-84 lead with 16 seconds left. He then sank two free throws with eight seconds to go.
Sengfelder’s career-high 31 helps Boise St. beat SJSU 94-71
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Chris Sengfelder scored a career-high 31 points on 11-of-15 shooting and Boise State hit a season-high 18 3-pointers on Wednesday night as the Broncos beat San Jose State 94-71.

Swan scores 19 with 9 boards, Air Force beats San Jose State
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Ryan Swan scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Jacob Van added 14 points to help Air Force beat San Jose State 78-71 on Saturday.
Pervis Louder scored all of his 12 points in the second half and Lavelle Scottie finished with 11 for Air Force (7-10, 1-4 Mountain West). The Falcons, who had lost seven of their last eight, snapped a four-game skid.
McCoy scores 23 to help UNLV beat SJSU 82-76 in OT
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Brandon McCoy made 9-of-11 free throws and finished with 23 points and Jordan Johnson hit 5-of-6 free throws in the final 30 seconds of overtime to help UNLV beat San Jose State 82-76 on Wednesday night.
Shakur Juiston had 14 points and Kris Clyburn 13 for UNLV (12-3, 1-1 Mountain West). Johnson finished with 10 points, seven assists and three steals.
Utah State tops San Jose State for 21st straight time, 86-72
LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Koby McEwen scored 24 points and Utah State opened its Mountain West Conference season by beating San Jose State for the 21st straight time, topping the Spartans 86-72 on Wednesday night.
The Aggies are 33-4 all-time against San Jose State at home and have beaten the Spartans 25 straight times in Logan. Overall, they've beaten the Spartans in 27 of the last 28 meetings.
Utah State left little doubt how this one was going to turn out, racing to a 44-28 lead by intermission.
San Jose State rides big 1st half at Santa Clara, 75-63
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Ryan Welage scored 21 points and Keith Fisher III added 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, both career highs, as San Jose State beat crosstown rival Santa Clara for the second straight year, posting a 75-63 victory on Thursday night.
The Spartans snapped a six-game losing streak to the Broncos last year with a 55-40 win. This year's loss is the fourth straight and third on their home court for Santa Clara.
Portland slips past San Jose State for 64-55 win
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Josh McSwiggan scored 14 points, including the go-ahead bucket in the second half, to help Portland get past San Jose State for a 64-55 win Saturday night.

Denver edges San Jose State 58-56 behind Rosga
DENVER (AP) — Joe Rosga scored 23 points and Denver held off San Jose State 58-56 on Tuesday night for its sixth straight win in the series.
SJSU closed to 57-56 on Ryan Welage's layup with 1:19 left before Denver's Daniel Amigo made 1 of 2 free throws after getting fouled on a rebound. After the Spartans called a timeout with 2.9 seconds left, Welage tried to get his defender in the air on a pump fake and hit the front of the rim on a jumper from the wing as time expired.
Southern Illinois rolls to 76-58 win over San Jose State
CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) — Kavion Pippen scored 22 points with four steals and Southern Illinois rolled to 76-58 win over San Jose State on Saturday.
Pippen was 9 of 10 from the field and hit all of his free throws for the Salukis (4-2). Armon Fletcher added 15 points and six rebounds, Aaron Cook had 12 points and Jonathan Wiley chipped in 10.
The team shot 52.6 percent compared to 40 percent for San Jose State.
Freshman Turner scores 27, Bowling Green beats SJSU 85-79
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) — Justin Turner made five 3-pointers and scored 27 points, Demajeo Wiggins had 17 points, 12 rebounds and four steals, and Bowling Green beat San Jose State 85-79 on Wednesday night.
Bowling Green made 6 of 8 free throws in the final 28 seconds to seal it. Rodrick Caldwell was 3 of 4 and Turner capped the scoring with two makes in the closing seconds.
Turner, a freshman, scored 20-plus for the third time this season.
San Jose St. dumps Idaho St. 62-54 behind Hillsman’s 15
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Jaycee Hillsman scored 15 points, Isaiah Nichols had a career-high 14 points and San Jose State kept Idaho State winless with a 62-54 victory over the Bengals on Wednesday night.
Hillsman broke a 9-9 tie with a pair of 3-pointer and a 3-point play off a layup and San Jose State (2-3) never trailed again. The Spartans led 22-15 at the break — Idaho State's lowest-scoring half of the season.
Better, Cohee lead Southern Utah to 81-69 win over SJSU
CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) — Brandon Better had all 15 of his points in the first half and Jadon Cohee finished with 19 as Southern Utah started fast and held on for an 81-69 win over San Jose State on Thursday night.
Better outscored the Spartans early as he drilled four from beyond the arc and converted a 3-point play to give Southern Utah a 30-14 lead with 4:10 left in the first half.
Wright’s 22 PTs leads San Diego past San Jose St. 81-64
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Isaiah Wright scored 22 points on 9-for-13 shooting and distributed seven assists and Olin Carter III had 18 points and San Diego defeated San Jose State 81-64 in the Toreros season opener on Sunday.
Isaiah Nichols made a layup and Jaycee Hillsman added a pair of free throws to bring San Jose State to within 16-14, but the Toreros used a 15-1 run with 3-pointers from Carter, Hunter Summy and Cameron Neubauer and never looked back.

Brown’s jumper with 13.5 to go lifts San Jose St. past UNLV
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Terrell Brown scored the game-winner with 13.5 seconds left and San Jose State beat UNLV 76-74 on Saturday for its fourth straight win.
Brown had the ball at the top of the arc and drove the lane before making a jump shot just in front of the net. UNLV's Jovan Mooring, who finished with 18 points, missed a jumper from inside the paint to end it.
San Jose State beats New Mexico for 1st time in 13 tries
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Ryan Welage scored 20 points to lead four San José State players in double figures Saturday as the Spartans won 78-68 for their first victory over New Mexico in 13 tries.
"This is one of the, if not the biggest win in program history," San José State coach Dave Wojcik said.
The Spartans (11-10, 4-6 Mountain West) pulled ahead midway through the second half, using a 14-2 run to take control of the game.
San Jose State rallies from 13-point deficit, beats UNLV
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Brandon Clarke scored 23 points and matched a career-high with 15 rebounds, and San Jose State rallied from a 13-point deficit and then held off UNLV for a 76-72 victory on Saturday.
The game was tied 63-63 with about four minutes to go. Ryan Welage and Isaiah Nichols each hit 3-pointers, and Clarke made two layups and the Spartans led 73-68. Jovan Mooring made a 3 to pull UNLV to 73-71 with 21 seconds left.
