Michael Frolik had the first of four second-period goals for Calgary, and the Flames held on to snap a season-long four-game skid with a 5-4 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday.
Frolik, Austin Czarnik, Travis Hamonic and Sam Bennett scored during a mid-game 17-minute span for Calgary, which held off a late Pittsburgh charge that included a pair of third-period power-play goals by Evgeni Malkin.

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — Kailer Yamamoto celebrated his 20th birthday with two goals in the Edmonton Oilers' 4-3 preseason victory over the Calgary Flames on Saturday.
Yamamoto got his second of the game early in the third period, tapping a goalmouth feed from Drake Caggiula behind goalie Mike Smith to complete the scoring. Yamamoto has six goals in six exhibition games.

Jankowski, Versteeg lead Flames to wild 7-4 win over Blues
CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — Patience is starting to pay off for Mark Jankowski.
The rookie had two goals and an assist, Kris Versteeg scored the winner with 5:31 left and the Calgary Flames scored five times in the third period to beat the St. Louis Blues 7-4 on Monday night.

ADELAIDE, Australia (AP) — Australian sprinter Caleb Ewan won the first stage of the Tour Down Under cycling race Tuesday, which was shortened from 145 kilometers (90 miles) to 118 kilometers (73 miles) because of extreme heat.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Joonas Donskoi forgot the feeling of scoring and once he got it back, he wanted to continue it.
Donskoi scored twice and the San Jose Sharks beat the Calgary Flames 4-1 Tuesday night for their fifth win in six games.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Brian Elliott got a warm welcome in his old home.
Elliott stopped 23 shots in his return to St. Louis, Johnny Gaudreau and Sam Bennett each had a goal and an assist and the Calgary Flames beat the Blues 4-1 on Tuesday night.
"I had so much fun playing in front of these fans and in this building that I wanted to do it again even though it's with another team," Elliott said. "The guys did a heck of a job in front of me to get that win for me."
Versteeg connects in shootout to lift Flames over Blackhawks
CHICAGO (AP) — Kris Versteeg scored the lone goal of the shootout in the seventh round of the tiebreaker to give the Calgary Flames a 3-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday night and just their second victory this season.
Versteeg, a former Blackhawk, faked Corey Crawford and connected on a wrist shot.
Sam Bennett and Sean Monahan scored in regulation for Calgary, which snapped a two-game losing streak.
