GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Samajae Haynes-Jones scored 18 points as Wichita State beat East Carolina 65-49 on Wednesday night to notch its third-straight win.
Haynes-Jones was 7 of 9 from the field including two from distance for the Shockers (11-11, 4-6 American Athletic Conference). Markis McDuffie added 14 points, Jaime Echenique had 10 rebounds in addition to his eight points and Asbjorn Midtgaard led the team with 11 rebounds.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Kyvon Davenport scored 25 points in 26 minutes off the bench and Memphis defeated Wichita State 85-74 to give head coach Penny Hardaway his first American Athletic Conference victory in both teams' league opener Thursday night.
Davenport, who averages 14.5 points a game, was 7-of-11 shooting, including two 3-pointers, 9 of 11 from the line and had five rebounds for the Tigers (9-5), who shot 50 percent and made 25 of 31 free throws to 6 of 6 for the Shockers (7-6).

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Markis McDuffie and Jaime Echenique each scored 17 points and Wichita State fought off Southern Mississippi for a 63-60 win on Saturday.
Dominic Magee's layup with 53 seconds remaining put Southern Miss on top 61-60 before Echenique threw down a dunk 17 seconds later.

Wichita State build big early lead, holds off Baylor 71-63
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — There was misery Saturday night for Baylor coach Scott Drew as his team struggled to reach double-figure scoring before halftime at Wichita State.
The Shockers built a 44-15 halftime lead, and Samajae Haynes-Jones finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds as Wichita State held on to defeat Baylor 71-63 despite letting a 33-point lead get cut to five.
It was one of the 10 largest halftime leads for Wichita State in 40 seasons.

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Facing an opponent that can look like a blur, Wichita State guard Samajae Haynes-Jones was pretty sure he would feel at home Tuesday night.
The quickest Shocker took full advantage, coming off the bench for 31 points to lead No. 8 Wichita State past Savannah State 112-66.
Jones, a junior college transfer, scored 30 points in his first five games this season combined.
"It was just a lot of transition," Haynes-Jones said. "It was fast out there. I enjoyed it."
