Hooker scores 17 to lift Kennesaw State past NJIT 63-62
KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) — Ugo Obineke made a short jumper with 11 seconds remaining to give Kennesaw State a 63-62 victory over NJIT on Saturday.
Obineke's basket came after Diandre Wilson gave NJIT the lead on two free throws with 24 seconds left.
Tyler Hooker had 17 points for Kennesaw State. Bobby Parker had 14 points for the Owls (5-20, 2-8 Atlantic Sun Conference). Bryson Lockley added seven rebounds.
NJIT off to best start since 1996-97, beats Kean 73-40
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Shyquan Gibbs scored 15 points to lead five players in double-figure scoring and NJIT stayed undefeated with a 73-40 victory over Division III Kean on Wednesday night.
NJIT (4-0) is off to its best start since 1996-97, the program's final season at the D-III level.
Wilson’s late 3 helps NJIT to 81-78 OT win over Colgate
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Diandre Wilson nailed a 3-pointer in overtime to put NJIT ahead for good and give the Highlanders an 81-78 victory over Colgate on Tuesday night.
Wilson hit the trey with 1:32 remaining in the extra period to give the Highlanders a 78-76 lead. He added four free throws in the final seconds to secure the season-opening victory.
Sams scores 28, North Florida beats NJIT in ASUN tourney
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Garrett Sam finished with career-high 28 points and North Florida held on for an 80-76 win over NJIT in the first round of the ASUN Tournament on Monday night.
No. 5 seed North Florida (14-18) will play top-seeded Florida Gulf Coast in the semifinals on Thursday.
NJIT blocks 13 shots in 99-53 win over D-III Bryn Athyn
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Diandre Wilson made four 3-pointers and scored 15 points, Anthony Tarke added 14 and NJIT blocked 13 shots in defeating Division III opponent Bryn Athyn 99-53 on Friday.
The Highlanders (7-6) outscored the Lions 50-26 in the paint and blocked a season-high 13 shots with Abdul Lewis leading the way with four.
Lewis guides NJIT to first win over LIU Brooklyn, 73-69
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Abdul Lewis scored 23 points and grabbed 18 of NJIT's 32 rebounds and the Highlanders beat LIU Brooklyn for the first time, 73-69, on Tuesday night.
Lewis added four assists and Diandre Wilson chipped in with 16 points, five rebounds and four steals for the Highlanders (4-2), who were 0-4 against the Blackbirds (2-6) coming in.
NJIT has won three straight games and is off to the best start in school history.
