Southern Marin Fire District Battalion Chief Matt Barnes said rescue crews pulled the two people, a man and a woman in their 40s, from Richardson Bay off the coast of Sausalito on Monday afternoon.
Both were transported to a hospital where the man was declared dead.

California mountain lion caught using thermal imaging drone
PLEASANTON, Calif. (AP) — A mountain lion roaming the parking lot of a busy office complex in the eastern San Francisco Bay suburbs has been tranquilized and removed with some high-tech help.
Police in Pleasanton, California, and California Department of Fish and Wildlife officers used a drone with thermal imaging cameras to track the puma, which appears to be about a year old and healthy at about 80 pounds. It took four tranquilizer darts to bring him down.

VALLEJO, Calif. (AP) — The U.S. Geological Survey says a magnitude 3.3 earthquake struck near this San Francisco Bay area city.
The agency says the quake hit at 5:27 p.m., and its epicenter was 3 miles (5 km) southeast of Vallejo. It had a depth of 5 miles (8 km).
NBCBayarea.com reports that the temblor was felt over an area stretching from Concord and Oakland to American Canyon. The website says there were no reports of damage so far.

Oakland, water district fined for sewage spills into bay
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says the city of Oakland and a water district are being fined $350,000 for allegedly allowing sewage water to flow into the San Francisco Bay.
The EPA says in a statement Tuesday that Oakland will have to pay more than $220,000 in fines for the violations between September 2014 and June 2017. The East Bay Municipal Utility District is being fined $134,000.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Police in the San Francisco Bay Area have arrested a suspect they say was involved in two violent crimes on commuter trains last week, hours after officials released surveillance photos of the man.
Bay Area Rapid Transit officers said Monday that they had Berkeley resident Mario Christopher Washington, 42, in custody after a fire inspector spotted the suspect in downtown Oakland and alerted authorities.
