Prosecutors say Recio killed the baby on Jan. 5 by causing blunt-force trauma to her head. They provided no additional details.

He's also charged with the 1998 rape of a woman jogger in the same city. Both victims were dragged into bushes and attacked.

Mom who drowned baby in tub found insane, spared prison
SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — Jurors have decided a California woman twice convicted of drowning her baby daughter in a bathtub was insane at the time of the killing and will be spared a prison sentence.
Lucero Carrera was first convicted in 2015 and was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison — but her conviction was overturned on appeal.
She was convicted again this year, but the jury deadlocked in the sanity phase of the trial.
Santa Ana man sentenced for molesting 10 boys

Twenty-six-year-old Edwin Echeverria was sentenced Friday on two dozen molestation charges. He pleaded guilty last month.
Authorities say that between 2010 and 2014, Echeverria lured children to his apartment, plying them with chips, soda and other snacks, and sexually assaulted them. The victims ranged from 11 to 17 years old but seven of them were under the age of 14.

Samuel Woodward, a 21-year-old from Newport Beach, California, entered the plea during a hearing in Orange County Superior Court.
Bail was previously set at $5 million but Judge Kimberly Menninger ordered Woodward held without bail at prosecutors' request, saying she believed he would be a danger to the community if released.
