NEW YORK (AP) — Alabama's thrilling national football championship victory over Georgia drew 28.4 million viewers to ESPN on Monday night, the Nielsen company said.
It was second only to the Ohio State-Oregon championship game in 2015 as the most-watched telecast ever on cable television, the company said. The game ended in overtime with a sudden-death touchdown for the Tide.

Hoda Kotb will join Savannah Guthrie as co-anchor of NBC News' TODAY Show, network officials announced Tuesday.
The announcement was made by Andy Lack, Chairman of the NBC News Group.
Together, Guthrie and Kotb will co-anchor the 7 to 9 a.m. hours of TODAY, along with weather anchor Al Roker and Orange Room host Carson Daly. Kotb will also continue co-hosting the 10 a.m. hour of TODAY with Kathie Lee Gifford.

NEW YORK (AP) — NBC News opened the new year Tuesday by appointing Hoda Kotb as co-anchor of the "Today" show's first two hours with Savannah Guthrie, replacing Matt Lauer following his firing on sexual misconduct charges in late November.
Kotb, 53, will continue to co-host the show's fourth hour with Kathie Lee Gifford.

Guthrie's co-host Matt Lauer made the announcement on the air Friday morning . Lauer says Charles Max Feldman was born at 8:59 a.m. Thursday and weighed in at a healthy 9 pounds, 8 ounces. Charley, as he will be known, is named after Guthrie's father. The middle name comes from the grandfather of Guthrie's husband, Mike Feldman.
