Redskins lose another offensive lineman for season
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Rookie tackle Geron Christian is out for the rest of the season in the latest significant injury to the Washington Redskins' offensive line.
Coach Jay Gruden said Monday that Christian will miss the final seven games of the regular season and any in the playoffs after tearing the medial collateral ligament in his right knee. Christian, the Redskins' third-round pick who was forced into action by a bevy of injuries, hurt his knee Sunday at Tampa Bay.
3 Skins starters out for season: Scherff, Lauvao, Richardson
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Washington Redskins lost more than a quarter of their starting offense in one fell swoop Monday, with receiver Paul Richardson and guards Brandon Scherff and Shawn Lauvao all going on injured reserve because they need season-ending surgery.
Flags, injuries, bad ‘D’ hurt Skins in 38-14 loss to Falcons
LANDOVER, Md. (AP) — As harbingers go, this was quite a start for the Washington Redskins.
After a 4-yard run on the opening play of the game, the hosts' initial possession featured a holding penalty, a sack for a loss of 9 yards, an injured left knee for left guard Shawn Lauvao — who was taken to the locker room in a wheelchair — and a three-and-out punt.
Redskins’ offensive line living up to Hogs 2.0 nickname
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Long before Alex Smith and Adrian Peterson joining the Redskins was ever a possibility, Trent Williams made up Hogs 2.0 T-shirts for Washington's offensive linemen.
The original "Hogs" offensive line paved the way for three Super Bowl titles, so this group has a long way to go before they can be compared to that group.
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — The Washington Redskins have re-signed Shawn Lauvao as they look to fill a hole at starting left guard.
The team announced the deal Tuesday. Lauvao spent the past four seasons with Washington, starting all 41 of his appearances.
Lauvao, 30, re-signed almost two months into free agency. The Redskins did not draft a guard, though coach Jay Gruden floated the idea of moving swing tackle Ty Nsekhe to that spot.
At the NFL scouting combine last month, Notre Dame product Quenton Nelson made his case for why teams should use a top-five pick on a guard a position, historically, taken in the later rounds.
He rattled off Aaron Donald and Geno Atkins: two destructive forces that wreak havoc on a weekly basis. They are both defensive tackles, and defenses are having increasing success up the middle.

Skins LT Trent Williams, Giants WR Sterling Shepard inactive
LANDOVER, Md. (AP) — Pro Bowl left tackle Trent Williams is inactive for the Washington Redskins against the New York Giants because of an injured right knee.
The Thanksgiving night game is the third time in the past five weeks that Williams has been sidelined by the knee. His absence means Washington is missing three-fifths of its starting offensive line, because left guard Shawn Lauvao and center Spencer Long went on injured reserve this week.
Reed, McClain, Roullier, Nicholson out for Skins vs. Giants
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Tight end Jordan Reed, defensive lineman Terrell McClain, center Chase Roullier and safety Montae Nicholson will miss the Washington Redskins' game against the New York Giants.
There might be other Redskins sidelined, too.
Coach Jay Gruden said Wednesday that seven or eight players will be game-time decisions Thursday night, indicating that left tackle Trent Williams is among that group.
This will be Reed's fourth consecutive game out with a hamstring injury.
‘It sets us back’: Redskins put 2 starting o-linemen on IR
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Add left guard Shawn Lauvao and center Spencer Long to the ever-growing list of Washington Redskins done for the season because they're hurt.
Redskins coach Jay Gruden announced Tuesday that Long needs surgery on a quadriceps tendon and will be headed to injured reserve.
Later in the day, the team issued a news release saying that Lauvao would join him there because of a stinger, leaving Washington (4-6) without two-fifths of its starting offensive line.
Redskins slowly getting healthy with Vikings up next
As Rob Kelley began feeling some pain in his sprained right ankle, he thought about all the injuries his teammates were playing through.
"Everyone hurts," Kelley said. "So what are you going to do, keep playing or keep whining?"
Washington's offensive line will be as thin as feared Sunday when it plays the Seattle Seahawks in CenturyLink Field.
Left tackle Trent Williams, center Spencer Long and left guard Shawn Lauvao are out. Right guard Brandon Scherff is active, though how much he will play, and if he will start, remains in question. Morgan Moses, who sprained both ankles last week, is the "healthiest" Redskins offensive lineman.
SEATTLE -- A clarification came Saturday: Wide receiver Jamison Crowder did not travel with the Redskins to Seattle because of his hamstring injury. He is out for Sunday's game against the surging Seahawks, just another name on the list of Washington injuries.
A few things to note early Sunday morning in the cool, damp and raw Pacific Northwest:
Jamison Crowder tweaked hamstring chasing down Kirk Cousins interception
ASHBURN Redskins wide receiver Jamison Crowder isn't sure whether he'll be able to play Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks. He was officially listed as questionable Friday, but hasn't practiced all week with a hamstring injury.
Crowder said his hamstring feels good at times, but then starts to feel different when he goes to work out. The wide receiver has rehabbed to the side at practice.
Banged-up Redskins get Williams back at critical juncture
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Trent Williams was glad to be talking about practice. He was happy to back on the football field.
Washington's left tackle is back after serving a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, and his return could not have come at a more opportune time for the banged-up Redskins (6-5-1). Washington faces a crucial stretch beginning Sunday at the Philadelphia Eagles and can use the boost on its offensive line.
Redskins put C Kory Lichtensteiger on IR, sign John Sullivan
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — The Washington Redskins have put center Kory Lichtensteiger on injured reserve with an injured calf and signed free agent center John Sullivan.
As part of a flurry of moves Tuesday, the Redskins moved offensive lineman Vinston Painter from their practice squad to their active roster, signed cornerback Tye Smith to their practice squad and released linebacker Amarlo Herrera from their practice squad.
