CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Jon Davis scored 18 points with eight rebounds and seven assists and Charlotte beat East Carolina 55-49 on Tuesday night to snap a three-game losing streak.
Malik Martin added 13 points and seven rebounds and Milos Supica had 10 points and eight boards for Charlotte (3-5).
Gardner leads E. Carolina past Maryland-Eastern Shore 70-43
GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Jayden Gardner scored 22 points and K.J. Davis, Seth LeDay and Shawn Williams all scored 10 points and East Carolina beat Maryland-Eastern Shore 70-47 on Sunday.
LeDay made a pair of free throws, East Carolina (6-4) led 4-2 and never trailed again. The free throws began an 11-0 run that included a 3-pointer by Williams. The Pirates shot 15 of 27 (55.6) from the field in the first half and led 42-21 at intermission.
East Carolina rallies past Appalachian State 83-81
GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Jayden Gardner scored 22 points, Seth LeDay added 18 and his go-ahead put-back with 18 seconds left helped East Carolina rally to beat Appalachian State 83-81 on Friday night.
ECU rallied from as many as 13 points back and closed to 81-80 on Gardner's free throw with 1:08 to play. LeDay made his put-back and Gardner iced it with a free throw after the Mountaineers missed a 3 with five seconds left.
East Carolina pulls away from Prairie View A&M, 76-64
GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Jayden Gardner scored 28 points and grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds as East Carolina pulled away from Prairie View A&M in the second half to win its second-straight game, 76-64 on Wednesday night in the final of the Deep South Showcase.
The loss was the fifth straight for Prairie View after opening the season with a win at Santa Clara. The Panthers play 12 straight road games to start the season and do not play their home opener until 2019.

BALTIMORE (AP) — A once-promising season is spiraling dangerously out of control, and the Cincinnati Bengals can't even agree on the proper path to turning themselves back into a postseason contender.
There's no doubt that the defense has to get better. Yet the offense hasn't exactly been racking up the points without injured wide receiver A.J. Green.

ECU beats Delaware State 81-56 in coach Dooley’s debut
GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Isaac Fleming and Seth LeDay each scored 12 points and East Carolina beat Delaware State 81-56 on Tuesday night.
It featured two new head coaches in ECU's Joe Dooley and DSU's Eric Skeeters.
Dooley will guide a young ECU team with six freshmen on the roster. ECU is led by Fleming, who averaged 12.5 points per game last year. Sophomore Shawn Williams, who was the American Athletic Conference freshman of the year, has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules.
Chiefs, Bengals missing key pieces for Sunday night showdown
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Chiefs are missing top pass rusher Justin Houston and safety Eric Berry along with starting center Mitch Morse for their Sunday night game against the banged-up Cincinnati Bengals.
Houston is out with a hamstring injury and Berry has been hobbled by a heel injury since the start of training camp. Morse sustained a concussion in last week's loss in New England.

CINCINNATI (AP) — With their secondary depleted by injuries, the Bengals signed cornerback KeiVarae Russell off the practice squad Thursday for an upcoming game in Kansas City.
Russell was the Chiefs' third-round pick in 2016. He's played in 13 games for Cincinnati over the past two seasons. The Bengals needed another cornerback with Darqueze Dennard sidelined by a shoulder injury suffered during a 28-21 loss to the Steelers.
Bengals aim to cut down on defensive penalties vs Ravens
CINCINNATI (AP) — Safety Shawn Williams lowered his shoulder and hit Andrew Luck in the head as he was tackled, drawing an ejection.
End Carlos Dunlap went for Luck's legs and got a penalty for roughing the passer. He was flagged again when he landed hard on the quarterback after taking him down.

GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Corey Davis Jr. scored 20 points, Fabian White Jr. added 17 with six rebounds and three blocks and Houston easily handled East Carolina with a 65-49 win on Sunday.
Davis and White combined to shoot 15 for 22 from the field, though the rest of the Cougars mustered just 11-of-44 shooting. Rob Gray added 12 points with nine assists.
UConn gets first conference win, 70-65 over East Carolina
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — UConn did not get a pretty win on Saturday, but after four straight losses, the Huskies will take an ugly victory.
Jalen Adams scored 18 points and Connecticut held off East Carolina 70-65 for its first conference win this season.
Terry Larrier and Christian Vital each had 16 points for the Huskies (8-7, 1-2), who were coming off a loss in double overtime to Tulsa.
Antonio Brown is in uniform and will play for the Steelers on Monday night against the Cincinnati Bengals at Pail Brown Stadium.
Brown was listed as questionable with a toe injury that let him out of practice Friday and Saturday.

GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Kentrell Barkley and Shawn Williams each scored 14 points as East Carolina earned its 16th consecutive win in its home opener Sunday, dispatching Coppin State 76-50.
Barkley, a returning starter, hit 5 of 7 from the field and 4-for-4 from the line also grabbed seven rebounds for the Pirates. Williams, in his first game after redshirting, came off the bench to hit 4 of 9 shots from the field, including 2 of 5 from deep.
