18 injured in panic at Florida mall after food court fight
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say 18 people were injured at a Florida shopping mall when a crowd fled loud noises they mistook for gunfire.
Orange County Sheriff's Office Master Deputy Ingrid Tejada-Monforte said chairs hitting the ground during an altercation in the food court set off the panic Saturday at The Florida Mall in Orlando.
Tejada-Monforte said deputies responding to a call about shots fired quickly determined that a man and a woman had been fighting and knocked over the chairs.

Las Vegas police: Man injured in fall from escalator rail
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say a 21-year-old man was critically injured when he fell from an escalator in a downtown Las Vegas shopping mall and entertainment complex.
Police say the man fell from the second floor when he tried to slide down a rail of the escalator while with friends at the Neonopolis early Saturday.
According to police, witness reports and video indicate the man was intoxicated.
Renovation planned for downtown Indianapolis shopping mall
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A multi-million dollar renovation is planned for the struggling Circle Centre shopping mall in downtown Indianapolis.
The mall's owner says the project includes remodeled bathrooms, flooring, lighting and elevators, improved entrances and an overhaul of the third-floor food court. The project was announced by Circle Centre Partnership, which includes mall manager Simon Property Group and several Indianapolis businesses that own the 23-year-old mall.

Major western Pennsylvania mall closing on Thanksgiving Day
GREENSBURG, Pa. (AP) — One of western Pennsylvania's largest indoor shopping malls is closing on Thanksgiving Day.
The Westmoreland Mall says on its website that it is closing so shoppers and employees can spend time "with family and friends and come fresh and excited to spend Black Friday with us."
The mall in Hempfield Township, about 30 miles east of Pittsburgh along U.S. Route 30, is home to anchors like J.C. Penney, Bon Ton, and Macy's, and scores of smaller shops.
Mall of America to close for Thanksgiving
NEW YORK (AP) — Mall of America, the nation's largest shopping mall anchored by Macy's, H&M and others, has taken a stand against the growing trend of Thanksgiving shopping and will be closed on the turkey feast this year.
The center, based in Bloomington, Minnesota, has been open on Thanksgiving since 2012. But mall officials told The Associated Press it wants to offer workers time with their families.
The mall will re-open at 5 a.m. on the Friday after Thanksgiving.
LAKE DELTON – Businesses in an area outlet shopping mall are banding together to help area charities while encouraging shoppers to visit their stores.
The Outlets at the Dells will host its annual Shopping Extravaganza from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Proceeds from $20 tickets sold for the event will benefit 18 area charities, including the Friends of the Baraboo Zoo and Assist WI. Those who purchase tickets can choose which charity they prefer to support with $15 from the ticket cost.
