FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Louisiana Tech senior quarterback Ryan Higgins was bawling like a baby even before Jonathan Barnes' game-ending kick went through the uprights to win the Armed Forces Bowl.

RUSTON, La. (AP) — Ryan Higgins passed for 191 yards and two touchdowns, rushed for 42 yards and another score, and Louisiana Tech beat UTEP 28-7 on Saturday night.

RUSTON, La. (AP) — Three of the main reasons Louisiana Tech was among Conference USA's premier teams and won a bowl game last season were defensive tackle Vernon Butler, running back Kenneth Dixon and quarterback Jeff Driskel.
All three players were selected in last spring's NFL draft — Butler in the first round — and their departures represent only the beginning of the turnover coach Skip Holtz is dealing with this season.
RUSTON, La. (AP) — Authorities say Louisiana Tech quarterback Ryan Higgins has been arrested on a drunken driving charge.
The Lincoln Parish Sheriff's Office says Higgins, a senior, was arrested early Friday in Ruston about a half-mile from the school's football stadium after a police officer stopped him for speeding.
