Actor Douglas Rain, who supplied HAL’s voice, dies at 90
NEW YORK (AP) — Canadian actor Douglas Rain, who played some of Shakespeare's most intriguing characters onstage but perhaps is best known for supplying the creepily calm voice of the computer HAL in Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey" has died at 90.
The Stratford Festival said Rain died Sunday of natural causes at St. Marys Memorial Hospital, just outside of Stratford, Ontario. He was one of the festival's founding company members and spent 32 seasons performing there, until 1998.

Ermey's longtime manager Bill Rogin says he died Sunday morning from pneumonia-related complications. He was 74.
The Kansas native was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his memorable performance in "Full Metal Jacket," in which he immortalized lines such as: "What is your major malfunction?"

LOS ANGELES (AP) — An unrestored 70mm print of Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece "2001: A Space Odyssey" is coming to select U.S. theaters in May in celebration of the film's 50th anniversary.
Kevin Bacon will star in and produce the new supernatural thriller 'You Should Have Left'.
The 59-year-old 'Footloose' star is teaming up with David Koepp and Jason Blum's Blumhouse Productions to adapt the 2017 book of the same name by German author Daniel Kehlmann, The Hollywood Reporter say.
Koepp has adapted the book and is set to helm the new movie which is being slated to start production this year.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum is hosting two free events next month about World War I.
The first is an April 4 lecture by a historian Mark DePue at the Springfield museum. He's the head of the museum's oral history program and has already developed a program on key Civil War battles using photos and soldiers' stories. He'll be using the same approach for the World War I presentation.
