JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A top Mississippi state senator has been charged with drunken driving after authorities said his truck went into a ditch.
State Senate President Pro Tem Terry Burton was found uninjured Wednesday night by a Mississippi Highway Patrol trooper near Starkville, authorities said.
Burton was taken to jail and charged with DUI second offense and failure to maintain proper lane. Oktibbeha County Sheriff Steve Gladney said the 62-year-old was subsequently released on $992 bail.
No. 17 Mississippi State beats Wofford for 7th straight win
STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Lamar Peters is making 3-point range look like a layup drill.
Peters made five more 3s and scored 19 points, helping No. 17 Mississippi State beat Wofford 98-87 on Wednesday night for its seventh consecutive win.

It said the 5-foot-11 forward wasn't great at making 3-pointers. She made the two she shot.
It said she usually drove to her right. She went left with ease.
When it was over, Howard had finished with 29 points, 12 rebounds and was the driving force behind No. 6 Mississippi State's 87-82 win over No. 18 Marquette on Thursday night.
