Nationals activate Scherzer to face Marlins; Reinstate Werth
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Washington Nationals reinstated Max Scherzer from the 10-day disabled list to start Monday's series opener against the Miami Marlins and activated outfielder Jayson Werth from the 60-day disabled list.
Scherzer (12-5, 2.25 ERA) missed two starts since being sidelined with inflammation in the left side of his neck. The two-time Cy Young award winner allowed two runs and five hits over seven innings in his previous appearance on Aug. 13 against San Francisco.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Ryan Raburn drove in the game-winning run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth as the Washington Nationals survived another bullpen collapse for a 3-2 victory over the New York Mets on Monday night.

MIAMI (AP) — Bryce Harper started the scoring with a two-run single that extended his hitting streak to 13 games, and Gio Gonzalez pitched seven innings to help the Washington Nationals beat the Miami Marlins 12-3 on Tuesday night.
Daniel Murphy had two RBIs and hit his 12th homer for the Nationals. Teammate Stephen Drew had three hits and three RBIs, and Ryan Zimmerman drove in three runs with a double and a single.
The NL East leaders went 7 for 14 with runners in scoring position.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Washington Nationals have placed infielder Stephen Drew on the 10-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain.
Drew is batting .222 after playing in each of Washington's first eight games. He has four RBIs, all of which he collected in Monday's 14-6 win over St. Louis.

WASHINGTON (AP) — First baseman Adam Lind and the Washington Nationals have finalized a $1.5 million, one-year contract.
Lind gets $1 million this year, and the deal includes a 2018 mutual option with a $500,000 buyout.
The 33-year-old hit .239 with 20 homers and 58 RBIs for the Seattle last season.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Backup infielder Stephen Drew agreed to a $3.5 million, one-year contract to return to the Washington Nationals as a versatile member of their bench.
The team announced the deal on Thursday, after Drew passed his physical exam.
