EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — No one seems to be asking questions about Eli Manning remaining the quarterback of the New York Giants these days.

Manning’s late TD pass leads Giants past 49ers 27-23
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Eli Manning showed he still has what it takes to lead the kind of game-winning drive that earned him two Super Bowl MVP awards.

Stagnant offense is getting to look familiar to Giants fans
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — This is getting to look familiar to New York Giants fans. Too familiar.
With Odell Beckham Jr., healthy, rookie Saquon Barkley in the backfield, Sterling Shepard emerging as a complementary target, the Giants' offense should be far more dangerous than in last season's debacle.
Shurmur’s first win as Giants coach helped by Wynn, Wheeler
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Pat Shurmur's first win as coach of the New York Giants had a cast of high-priced talent leading the way along with some help from a couple of less-known guys.
Manning throws 2 TDs as Giants beat Texans 27-22 for 1st win
HOUSTON (AP) — After two difficult losses, Odell Beckham Jr. saw a different energy in the New York Giants on Sunday.
"We came out and played like we loved the game of football and we were kids just having fun," the star receiver said. "It wasn't like: 'We're down 0-2 and we've got to win.' It was like: 'Let's go out and have fun today.' That's what we did, and we got the win."

Success of Giants’ offense rests with line
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — There is no doubt the New York Giants have the talent at the skill positions to be a success on offense.
It starts with two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning at quarterback and extends to three-time Pro Bowl receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and No. 2 overall draft pick Saquon Barkley at halfback. Sprinkle in receiver Sterling Shepard and second-year tight end Evan Engram and there is plenty of explosiveness for new coach Pat Shurmur's squad to put up some points.
New general manager Gettleman fires Giants VP Marc Ross
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The New York Giants have fired Marc Ross, the team's vice president of player evaluation for the last five seasons.
New general manager Dave Gettleman on Saturday announced the move, his first since rejoining the franchise.
Ross had been with the Giants since 2007, serving six years as director of college scouting. Ross had been in charge of the Giants' draft, along with previous GM Jerry Reese, who was let go this month.
Even Engram and Sterling Shepard will miss Giants finale
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Eli Manning is going to be without his top two receivers for the New York Giants' regular-season finale against the Washington Redskins.
Interim coach Steve Spagnulo said Friday that rookie tight end Evan Engram and wide receiver Sterling Shepard will not play on Sunday.
Engram, who leads the team with receptions (64) and TD catches (6), has a rib injury. Shepard, who leads the team with 731 yards receiving, has a neck injury.
Raiders’ Lynch fined $24,309 by NFL for shouting at official
NEW YORK (AP) — Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch was fined $24,309 by the NFL on Friday for yelling at a game official last Sunday against Dallas.
At the end of the Cowboys' 20-17 victory, Oakland quarterback Derek Carr fumbled the ball out of the end zone while trying to dive for a touchdown. The play was ruled a touchback. An angry Lynch shouted at a sideline official and needed to be restrained by teammates.
The Giants WR Sterling Shepard - Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins rivalry is getting a little bit heated
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- A skirmish broke out with around three minutes left in the fourth quarter of a tight game Sunday at MetLife Stadium. At the bottom of it all was New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard and Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins.
Eagles and Giants fans might want to get used to that. This is a matchup and rivalry that appears to be just getting started.
Chanel Iman has got engaged.
The 27-year-old supermodel is "beyond excited" to be marrying New York Giants player Sterling Shepard after he got down on one knee to pop the question in a romantic waterfront spot.
Iman shared a picture of her partner's proposal and wrote on Instagram: "A night full of tears of happiness.
"I'm beyond excited to spend the rest of my life with you @sterl_shep3 you are my soulmate, my best friend, my everything! Can't wait to be your Mrs."
Skins LT Trent Williams, Giants WR Sterling Shepard inactive
LANDOVER, Md. (AP) — Pro Bowl left tackle Trent Williams is inactive for the Washington Redskins against the New York Giants because of an injured right knee.
The Thanksgiving night game is the third time in the past five weeks that Williams has been sidelined by the knee. His absence means Washington is missing three-fifths of its starting offensive line, because left guard Shawn Lauvao and center Spencer Long went on injured reserve this week.
Fluker, Goodson, Pugh out for Giants game with Redskins
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — New York Giants right guard D.J. Fluker is going to miss the Thanksgiving game against the Redskins in Washington.
The Giants also announced that tackle Justin Pugh (back) and middle linebacker B.J. Goodson (ankle) also will miss the game.
The injury to Fluker means the Giants will have to use their eighth offensive line combination in 11 games. It is expected that veteran John Greco or first-year player Jon Halapio will replace Fluker.
PHERSY: Nate Dogg, I'd love to congratulate you for making the money last week, but I have a serious issue with you. Did you use your "cheap play" last week? Oh, no? Don't you find it a bit disingenuous to tell your readers someone is a player you love, but then not play them? It makes it tough to take your advice. OK, OK, maybe I'm giving you a little bit of a hard time, but you're red-hot, so you're going to have to take the abuse. At any rate, let's get back at it, and hopefully you'll give your followers some usable info this week...
Rookie Evan Engram has emerged as Eli’s go-to receiver
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — With all the injuries to the New York Giants' receivers, rookie tight end Evan Engram has emerged as the go-to guy for Eli Manning.
The first-round draft pick has caught 11 passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns in the past two games. He also has been the only receiver to get open on a consistent basis since Odell Beckham Jr., Brandon Marshall and Sterling Shepard sustained ankle injuries in a loss to the Chargers on Oct. 8.
Giants offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan calling plays
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Mike Sullivan has become the new face of the New York Giants' offense.
After more than a year as the team's offensive coordinator, the 50-year-old Sullivan was given the job of calling the plays on offense after the Giants lost their first five games in Ben McAdoo's second season as head coach.
McAdoo had called the plays since arriving as the offensive coordinator under Tom Coughlin in 2014. He kept doing the job when he became the head coach last season.

Vernon, Casillas, Richburg, Shepard all out for Broncos game
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The injury situation has gotten worse for the New York Giants.

Giants’ Odell Beckham Jr. has surgery for broken left ankle
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Three-time Pro Bowl receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has had surgery for a broken left ankle.
The Giants announced Tuesday that Beckham had the surgery on Monday night in New York.
Beckham was hurt Sunday in the fourth quarter of a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. The team said Monday that the surgery was planned for later in the week. It didn't explain the schedule change.
Odell Beckham Jr. breaks left ankle in loss to Chargers
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The New York Giants couldn't win with Odell Beckham Jr. in the lineup and now they face the prospect of playing the rest of the season without him.
And Beckham's broken left ankle wasn't the only injury for Giants receivers in their 27-22 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
Giants making things easier for players in effort to win
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The New York Giants are going to simplify things in an effort to get a win.
While coach Ben McAdoo wouldn't say precisely how the Giants would change for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers at MetLife Stadium, but it's obvious that he is trying to take some pressure off his team and to get them to play more instinctively.
Giants’ chances of making the playoffs dim after 0-3 start
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The New York Giants have fallen into a deep pit three games into the season, and their chances of getting out are not good.
Only five teams that started the season 0-3 since 1980 have rallied to get to the postseason. The last was Buffalo in 1998. Compounding the Giants' problem is that they are now 0-2 in the NFC East.
Giants looking for more than making the playoffs this season
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — After years of being asked when are they are going back to the playoffs, the New York Giants have the potential to make a run at a title again.
Playing most of Ben McAdoo's first season as coach with a stagnant offense, the Giants rode a Landon Collins-led defense to an 11-5 record and their first playoff berth since the 2011 season, a campaign that ended in a Super Bowl win.
FANTASY PLAYS: Sleeper picks for your fantasy draft
Sleeper is the fun buzz word for fantasy football drafts, but in truth, sleepers don't exist anymore. With the wealth of knowledge at your fingertips, it's nearly impossible to find players that no one is covering. What exists these days are underrated players — players at each position who aren't getting as much love in drafts but can turn the tide in your favor this fantasy season.
Oklahoma seeks replacement for Biletnikoff winner Westbrook
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — For the second straight year, Oklahoma must replace a star receiver.
And again, the seventh-ranked Sooners feel they have the talent on the roster to get it done.
Back in 2015, Sterling Shepard posted one of the best seasons in Oklahoma history. He often made big plays as a senior and wound up ranked second on the school's all-time career lists in receptions and yards. When he joined the NFL's New York Giants, no one was sure who would fill the void.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — After getting a handful of plays as a rookie, B.J. Goodson seemingly is starting the season as the New York Giants middle linebacker.
A fourth-round draft pick out of Clemson a year ago, Goodson has been working with the first team defense since organized team activities in the offseason and nothing changed through minicamp and now training camp.
Coach Ben McAdoo likes what he sees in Goodson, especially his willingness to hit.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The left ankle that New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard rolled in a training camp practice earlier this week is on the mend.
Shepard walked into a post-practice media session Friday and said his ankle is feeling pretty good.
An MRI was negative and the final diagnosis was a rolled ankle and a bone bruise, Shepard said.
Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard rolls left ankle
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The New York Giants may be without starting wide receiver Sterling Shepard for a little while.
The team's second-leading receiver last season rolled his left ankle running a short route in Wednesday's training camp practice.
After the workout, coach Ben McAdoo said the injury appeared to be a sprain, but he added that further evaluations were planned.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — A Florida State wide receiver who warmed hearts by sitting with an autistic school child at lunch last year is attempting to overcome his own adversity and make the New York Giants.
It's not going to be easy for Travis Rudolph.
His father was fatally shot in a freak accident at work in mid-April. The following weekend the junior who had left school to enter the NFL draft went undrafted and signed with the Giants. His father's funeral was last weekend.
Packers CB Rollins practices again, DBs getting healthier
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Cornerback Quinten Rollins practiced for a second straight day for the Green Bay Packers, a sign that their secondary could be getting closer to full strength ahead of the divisional-round playoff game Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.
Rollins missed last week's wild-card win over the New York Giants. He is recovering from a neck injury while also being monitored in the NFL's concussion protocol after getting hurt two weeks ago in Detroit.
AP Analysis: Now the Giants can all go on vacation.
Now, the New York Giants can all hit the sand and surf.
Any Vitamin D the receivers may have gotten from their much-maligned trip to Miami on their day off last week didn't help them hold onto Eli Manning's passes in Green Bay.
Mistakes, missed opportunities help foil Giants at Lambeau
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Missed opportunities kept Eli Manning and the New York Giants from another postseason victory at Lambeau Field.
Squandered scoring chances early; a botched kickoff return in the second half; and a number of dropped passes in between contributed to the Giants' 38-13 loss to the Packers in an NFC wild-card game on Sunday.
Packers’ Rollins out, Randall questionable
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Packers say Quinten Rollins will not play in their NFC wild-card game on Sunday against the New York Giants after the cornerback was evaluated this week for a concussion.
However Green Bay's battered secondary might get Damarious Randall back from a knee injury.
Randall was listed as questionable for the Giants game. The second-year cornerback was a full participant in the team's last practice on Thursday.
Manning defuses receivers trip to Miami to celebrate
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Touchdown passes, late winning drives and 400-yard passing games aren't always what make a quarterback a leader in the NFL.
It's the ability to take what might be a troublesome situation and calmly make it go away.
New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning did that on Tuesday on his 36th birthday, and he didn't have to even take a snap.
Giants win another close one, for 5th straight victory
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Nothing has come easy for the New York Giants this season, even the games they are supposed to win.
The difference this year is they are winning the close games, a big change from previous seasons.
The New York Giants are 6-3 after Eli Manning passed for 240 yards and three touchdowns in their fourth straight win, 21-20, over Cincinnati. The Giants' defense intercepted Andy Dalton once and sacked him three times after entering the game with an NFL-worst eleven sacks. New York went ahead for good on Manning's three-yard TD throw to Sterling Shepard on fourth-and-goal in the final period.
Giants heading toward first playoff berth since 2011
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — That four-year playoff drought could soon be nearing an end for the New York Giants.
Riding the play of their big-bucks defense and the gutsy play-calling of rookie coach Ben McAdoo , the Giants (6-3) posted their first four-game winning streak since 2013 by beating the Cincinnati Bengals 21-20 on Monday night.
Manning throws 3 TDs as gambling Giants beat Bengals
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Ben McAdoo has shown a willingness to gamble in his first season as the Giants coach, and New York is riding his hot hand for a run at their first postseason berth since winning the Super Bowl in 2011.
Eli Manning threw his third touchdown pass of the game on a fourth-down, fourth-quarter roll of the dice by McAdoo, and the Giants beat the Cincinnati Bengals 21-20 on Monday night for their first four-game winning streak since 2013.
The pain was surging through Bobby Hart’s right knee and suddenly, it was as if the MetLife Stadium crowd in excess of 80,000 had fallen silent.
Hart got up from a pile following a running play and, as he began to hop around on one leg in the general direction of the Giants’ sideline, all he heard was the familiar voice of his quarterback.
And Eli Manning’s plea – “Bobby, you gotta stay!” – resonated.
Giants not throwing Eli under the bus with O struggling
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — With the New York Giants' offense struggling, no one is pointing fingers, especially at quarterback Eli Manning.
There is no doubt the 35-year-old, two-time Super Bowl MVP has not played his best in recent losses to Minnesota and Green Bay.
There are a lot of reasons. The offensive line has been inconsistent. The running game has disappeared with starter Rashad Jennings missing the past three games and Shane Vereen lost for the season with a triceps injury in Week 3.
I should have known better.
The last time I plugged Eli Manning into a season-long fantasy lineup, he crushed me by throwing five interceptions and zero touchdowns.
I vowed to never roster him again.
But while analyzing his situation this summer, I became open to giving him another chance, despite the fact that he’s 35 and has never been a consistently viable fantasy option during his previous 12 years in the NFL.
Honeymoon may be over for Giants rookie coach McAdoo
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Ben McAdoo's honeymoon with the New York Giants is over.
After getting off to a 2-0 start, the rookie coach has seen his team lose three straight games and fall into last place in the NFC East.
The offense is having trouble scoring. Eli Manning seems a little off. The line has been inconsistent and the dynamic receiving trio of Odell Beckham Jr., Victor Cruz and Sterling Shepard are not producing as expected.
Deep with Dede: Oklahoma QB Mayfield has new deep threat
DALLAS (AP) — Baker Mayfield rolled left, set his feet and threw deep. Dede Westbrook was already behind the Texas defenders with his track-type speed when he caught another long touchdown pass for No. 20 Oklahoma.
Ben McAdoo believes the Giants offense close to breaking out
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Ben McAdoo isn't much of a numbers guy.
The New York Giants' rookie coach knows that statistics can be misleading. Take a look at New York's scoring.
They are ranked 27th in the NFL, averaging just over 18 points.
It's not good, and certainly well below what one would expect from a team that is entering its third season in the West Coast offense and has Eli Manning throwing to Odell Beckham Jr., Sterling Shepard and Victor Cruz.
