JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Jason Burnell matched his career high with 30 points as Jacksonville State defeated Tennessee State 84-65 on Saturday night.
Jamall Gregory had 13 points for Jacksonville State (19-8, 11-3 Ohio Valley Conference). Ty Hudson added 10 points. Christian Cunningham had nine rebounds for the home team.
Stokley Chaffee Jr. had 17 points for the Tigers (8-18, 5-9). Kamar McKnight added 12 points. Tripp Davis had 12 points and six rebounds.
Brown carries E. Kentucky over Tennessee St. 75-65
RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) — Jomaru Brown had a season-high 30 points as Eastern Kentucky beat Tennessee State 75-65 on Saturday night.
Tre King had 12 points for Eastern Kentucky (11-14, 4-8 Ohio Valley Conference), which snapped its four-game losing streak. Kelvin Robinson added 10 points and nine rebounds. Nick Mayo had 12 rebounds and three blocks for the hosts.
Michael Littlejohn had 16 points for the Tigers (8-16, 5-7). Kamar McKnight added 12 points. Stokley Chaffee Jr. had eight rebounds.
Tennessee State splits season series with Tennessee Tech
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Stokley Chaffee Jr. scored 10 of his 13 points in the second half and grabbed eight rebounds and Tennessee State defeated Tennessee Tech 79-62 on Thursday night, splitting the season series.
The Tigers (5-12, 2-3 Ohio Valley), who lost at home to the Golden Eagles 66-64 in a conference opener on Jan. 3, snapped a three-game losing streak to their state rival by posting just their second road win in eight games this season.
