VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Thatcher Demko was nervous before stepping on the ice.
It sure didn't show.
The 23-year-old goalie made 36 saves in his second NHL game, leading the Vancouver Canucks to a 4-3 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Friday night.
"An opportunity for me," Demko said. "I'm just really excited and wanted to make the most of it."
Alex Edler, Sven Baertschi, Brock Boeser and Loui Eriksson scored for Vancouver. Bo Horvat had two assists.
Panik’s OT goal lifts Canucks past Coyotes 4-3
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — The Arizona Coyotes kept relinquishing one-goal leads, letting the Vancouver Canucks stick around.
Richard Panik gave the Coyotes one final advantage — and a victory.
Panik scored his second goal of the game with 50 seconds left in overtime to lift Arizona to a 4-3 victory on Thursday night.
Panik added an assist, and Nick Cousins and Conor Garland also scored for the Coyotes, who got 33 saves from Darcy Kuemper.
Horvat’s goal in 3rd period lifts Canucks past Panthers 3-2
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — Bo Horvat came through with the winning goal on a milestone night.
Horvat, playing in his 300th NHL game, scored the tiebreaking goal in the third period, leading the Vancouver Canucks to a 3-2 victory over the Florida Panthers on Saturday night.
"I think that was the icing on top," Horvat said. "The win feels that much better."
Baertschi lifts Canucks over Avalanche 4-3 in OT
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Sven Baertschi fired in a picture-perfect shot under pressure.
The Swiss forward scored 1:07 into overtime Tuesday night, ripping his 11th goal of the season shortside over Jonathan Bernier's glove to give the Vancouver Canucks a 4-3 victory over the Colorado Avalanche.
"I didn't know I had that in my bag, to be honest," Baertschi said. "In overtime, it can go both ways. But I thought we really deserved it tonight."
Eriksson, Boeser lead way as Canucks thump Kings 6-2
