Chattanooga's Jim Foster began coaching long before he was old enough to drive.

Foster was playing on a CYO team at 13 when his coach quit and a priest selected Foster as player-coach for the rest of the season.

"Probably because I was the only one who could pass, catch and dribble," Foster quipped this week.

NEW YORK (AP) — Geno Auriemma never imagined he would have a chance to win 1,000 games, let alone coach that many contests, when he first took over UConn 32 years ago.

The NCAA infractions committee panel handling North Carolina's multi-year academic case plans to release its ruling Friday, three people with knowledge of the investigation said.

The people said the NCAA notified parties involved in the case Thursday morning. They spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because neither the school nor the NCAA have commented publicly on the release.
