MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) — K.J. Walton scored 16 of his career-high 24 points in the second half to lead Ball State to an 83-72 victory over Central Michigan on Saturday.
The Chippewas had a five-point lead when Walton had a steal and dunk to spark an 18-3 run to give Ball State a 71-61 lead with five minutes left. Walton scored 10 points with three dunks during the stretch. CMU pulled within nine points but didn't get closer.
Bowling Green edges Ball State 79-78 for 8th straight win
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) — Justin Turner scored 17 of his 20 points in the first half, Daeqwon Plowden had 19 points and eight rebounds and Bowling Green edged Ball State 79-78 on Tuesday night for its eighth straight victory.
Dylan Frye sank a 3-pointer with 3:09 remaining to extend BGSU's lead to 72-66 and he added a free throw with 5.7 seconds left for a 79-75 lead. Tayler Persons answered with a 3-pointer at the buzzer for the final margin.

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Tahjai Teague scored 20 points with three 3-pointers and 12 rebounds, and Ball State ended Toledo's 10-game win streak with a 79-64 victory in a Mid-American Conference opener Friday night.
Teague posted his second double-double this season. Tayler Persons scored 21 points on 10-of-17 shooting, Trey Moses added 17 points and K.J. Walton 14 for the Cardinals (10-4), who won their fourth straight and ninth in their last 10 games by taking down the defending MAC West champions.

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — Tayler Persons and Ishmael El-Amin scored 18 points apiece and Ball State led the entire game to throw some cold water on red-hot Toledo, sweeping the Rockets 99-71 on Saturday.
Persons opened the game with a layup and Ball State charged out to a 10-0 lead and didn't let Toledo — which had only lost twice since Jan. 2 — get closer than four points.

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — Tayler Persons drained a 3-pointer with one second left to give Ball State a 59-56 victory over Bowling Green on Tuesday night.
Persons, who had just two points in the first half, stepped behind a Trey Moses screen and ripped the net for the winner. It is the fifth time this season that Persons has hit either the tying or winning shot for the Cardinals. He finished with 15 points.

Ball State outlasts Akron, red-hot Ivey 111-106, 2OT
MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — Tayler Persons and Tahjai Teague each scored 26 points, Trey Moses poked the ball away from Akron's red-hot Jimond Ivey with four seconds left and Ball State held on for a wild, 111-106 double overtime victory on Saturday, its first series win against Akron since 2004.
Ivey scored a career-high and stadium-record 48 points, breaking the previous Worthen Arena scoring record of 41 set by Bonzi Wells and Earl Boykins, both of whom went on to careers in the NBA.

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — Tahjai Teague scored 16 points and Ball State defeated Florida A&M 75-54, winning its eighth straight in a final nonconference game Friday night.
Trey Moses scored 10 points with 10 rebounds for the Cardinals (9-4) and Tayler Persons scored 10 points with four assists.
Ball State held a 39-30 advantage on the boards and outscored Florida A&M 24-16 in the paint and 15-6 on second-chance points.
Ball State shocks No. 9 Notre Dame
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Ball State had never come close against Notre Dame, let alone beat the Fighting Irish.
Both changed Tuesday night on Tayler Persons' left-wing 3-pointer with 1.7 seconds remaining as the Cardinals shocked the ninth-ranked Fighting Irish 80-77 at Purcell Pavilion.

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Isaiah Johnson scored 20 points, grabbed nine rebounds and hit a jumper at the buzzer to lift Akron over Ball State 65-63 on Tuesday night.
With 2.3 seconds left, Ball State turned it over by throwing an inbounds pass the length of the court that went untouched and out of bounds. The Zips took possession under their basket, and Johnson's catch-and-shoot jumper along the baseline swished at the buzzer.
