Talladega College to see new facilities open this year
TALLADEGA, Ala. (AP) — A historically black college in Alabama is set to open a new residence hall.
Al.com reports that Talladega College will open a 45,000-square-foot (4180.6-sq.-meter) residence hall Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. The building is one of three major construction projects currently going on that are expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Alabama mental health group: Merger has led to more services
SYLACAUGA, Ala. (AP) — An Alabama mental health provider is marking two years since it merged with a regional mental health provider, and it says the new organization is now able to provide more services.
AltaPointe Health merged with the former Cheaha Regional Mental Health Center in 2016.
The merger brought four counties — Talladega, Clay, Coosa, and Randolph — into the AltaPointe organization.

Timothy Peters wrecks Gragson to win Talladega truck race
TALLADEGA, Ala. (AP) — Timothy Peters bumped leader Noah Gragson out of his way on the final lap at Talladega Superspeedway, then blocked traffic for the final mile to win the Truck Series race Saturday.
It was the 11th victory of Peters' career and third at Talladega, the most wins at the Alabama track among Truck Series drivers.
"If I kept my head on straight, I knew I had a chance to win," said Peters, who at 38 years old has been relegated to a partial schedule.
