MIAMI (AP) — The Miami Dolphins released defensive end Andre Branch and guard Ted Larsen, part of their effort to pare payroll in advance of free agency next week.
Seahawks face Rams without RB Carson, guard Fluker
The Seattle Seahawks will face the NFC West-leading Los Angeles Rams minus running back Chris Carson and guard D.J. Fluker.
Carson is out with a hip injury that bothered him last week, while Fluker is sidelined by a calf injury. Fluker's absence is notable given that he won't have an opportunity to back up his criticism of the Rams' toughness following the Seahawks' 33-31 loss to Los Angeles at Seattle last month.
3 Dolphins offensive linemen questionable for Green Bay
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — The Miami Dolphins could be without three injured starting offensive linemen Sunday at Green Bay.
Guard Ted Larsen (neck) is doubtful, and left tackle Laremy Tunsil (knee and ankle) and right tackle Ja'Wuan James (knee) are questionable. All three were limited in practice Friday, as they have been all week.
Dolphins lineman Sitton out for season with shoulder injury
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Miami Dolphins left guard Josh Sitton is out for the season.
Sitton has been diagnosed with a torn left rotator cuff, an injury sustained last week in the Dolphins' Week 1 win over the Tennessee Titans. The team placed him on injured reserve Friday, and did not immediately announce a corresponding move to the 53-man roster.
Dolphins LG Sitton still ailing, WR Parker nearing a return
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Left guard Josh Sitton was held out of his second consecutive Miami Dolphins practice Thursday, casting doubt on his availability for this weekend's game at the New York Jets.
Sitton has been out with a shoulder issue. If Sitton cannot play, Ted Larsen would be the likely starter on Sunday for the Dolphins (1-0) against the Jets (1-0). Larsen started eight games at left guard for the Dolphins last season.
Suh misses practice with knee injury, hopes to play Monday
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh sat out practice Thursday because of a knee injury but said he hopes to play Monday at Carolina.
Suh left Sunday's loss to Oakland due to the injury, and then returned and finished the game. He hasn't missed a start because of injury in his eight-year career.
Right tackle Ja'Wuan James' left hamstring injury could be a long-term issue, and he's undergoing further medical evaluation, coach Adam Gase said. James was also hurt Sunday.
Dolphins tackle James’ injury could be long-term issue
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Miami Dolphins coach Adam Gase says right tackle Ja'Wuan James' left hamstring injury could be a long-term issue, and he's undergoing further medical evaluation.
James was hurt in the loss Sunday to Oakland and sat out Thursday's practice, the first since that game. Miami next plays at Carolina on Monday.
Dolphins’ Cutler active and set to start against Oakland
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler is active and set to start in their Sunday night game against Oakland after missing one game because of cracked ribs.
Guard Ted Larsen is inactive despite practicing during the week for the first time since a biceps injury sidelined him in August.
Also inactive for the Dolphins are quarterback David Fales, linebacker Stephone Anthony, guard Isaac Asiata, receiver Rashawn Scott and defensive tackle Vincent Taylor.
Dolphins place guard Steen, safety Allen on injured reserve
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — The Miami Dolphins have placed starting guard Anthony Steen and starting safety Nate Allen on injured reserve, ending their seasons, and both spots are expected to be filled soon by players who have been sidelined.
OL Urbik released by Dolphins with injury settlement
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Offensive lineman Kraig Urbik, a contender to start for the Miami Dolphins at left guard this season, has been released with an injury settlement.
Urbik, sidelined by a knee injury, was released Saturday. He played in all 16 games with six starts last year, and has 63 career starts.
Ted Larsen, initially expected to be the starting left guard, is expected to miss at least half the season with a torn biceps. Other candidates for the job include Anthony Steen and Jesse Davis.
Costly camp: Add CB Lippett to Dolphins’ long injury list
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — The Miami Dolphins limped to the end of training camp Tuesday, and it's difficult to argue they're better than when they started.
Even by NFL standards, injuries have taken a heavy toll, and the latest will sideline cornerback Tony Lippett for the entire season. Lippett tore his Achilles tendon during practice Monday and will need surgery.
"He jumped up and then came down," coach Adam Gase said. "No one touched him. That was it."
Dolphins make several moves to upgrade shaky defense
MIAMI (AP) — New Miami Dolphins linebacker Lawrence Timmons says his approach to his job is simple.
"I'm a football player," the 10-year NFL veteran said. "I'm just see-ball, get-ball."
The Dolphins can use more of that after allowing a franchise-record 6,122 yards last season. That's why they made several moves Friday to shore up their defense, including the acquisition of Timmons, who signed a $12 million, two-year contract.
Bears’ Long, Sitton out for Vikings game because of injuries
CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Bears are holding star right guard Kyle Long and left guard Josh Sitton out of their game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Long, a three-time Pro Bowl lineman, was listed as doubtful after exiting last week's loss to Green Bay because of a strained triceps. Sitton missed his second consecutive game because of an ankle injury. Ted Larsen started at right guard and Eric Kush at left guard on Monday night.
