Nichols, Savoy lead No. 13 Florida State past Miami 68-62
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida State's depth has long been a big part of its success under coach Leonard Hamilton. On a night when fouls limited minutes for a number of players, it was two Seminoles who came off the bench to spark the victory.

The 6-foot-8 Cofer took over the team scoring lead last week from junior guard Terance Mann. Cofer averages 12.9 points after averaging below four points in each of the previous two seasons. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — When Florida State junior Terance Mann calls home after games, the conversation with his mother is slightly different than for most college athletes.
Sure, Daynia La-Force asks her son about his grades, whether he is eating right and the other normal parental inquiries. But Mann also gets a breakdown of his performance with his mother pointing out his strengths and weaknesses.
That's because La-Force is the women's basketball coach at Rhode Island.

Florida State’s defense throttles Fordham in Jamaica 67-43
MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica (AP) — The offense was good but the defense was great for Florida State.
Freshman reserve Mfiondu Kabengele scored 15 points, Terance Mann added 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting and the Seminoles rolled to a 67-43 win over Fordham in the Jamaica Classic on Friday night.
The defense was suffocating for the Seminoles (2-0), holding the Rams (1-2) to 23 percent shooting (12 of 52), including 1 of 22 from 3-point range, and turning 23 turnovers into 21 points.
After seeing his team lose its two leading scorers to the NBA and its third-leading scorer to the NBA G League, Florida State junior guard Terance Mann knows he'll have a lot more on his plate in the 2017-18 season.
For starters, the 21-year-old Lowell product is one of the Seminoles' few elder statesmen. He's a grizzled vet compared to the eight freshmen on the roster.
"I'm just around here telling people the do's and don'ts of college basketball," said Mann.
