Ohio State makes Hartline permanent receivers coach
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Brian Hartline has been promoted to permanent receivers coach at Ohio State.
Hartline, a former Buckeyes player and NFL veteran, was made interim coach when Zach Smith was fired in July because of domestic abuse allegations.
Under Hartline, Ohio State receivers achieved school records in receptions, yards and touchdowns behind quarterback Dwayne Haskins Jr.
No. 3 Ohio State pulls away to beat pesky Indiana 49-26
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A week after a gritty win at Penn State, No. 3 Ohio State had to work hard again, this time to put away pesky, unranked Indiana late in the game.
In doing so, Dwayne Haskins Jr. passed for a career-best 455 yards and six touchdowns — including two in the fourth quarter — as the Buckeyes pulled away for a 49-26 victory Saturday.
Buckeyes still loaded as most NFL-eligible players stay put
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio State coach Urban Meyer and his assistants annually brace for announcements about elite and not-so-elite players leaving the program early for the NFL draft.
But Monday's deadline to declare came and went, and the damage wasn't so bad for the Buckeyes.
There were some predictable early departures in cornerback Denzel Ward, linebacker Jerome Baker and defensive end Sam Hubbard. They were obvious NFL prospects.
Ohio State will rotate 6 in receiver-by-committee system
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Six receivers are listed as starters on Ohio State's official depth chart released Monday, a sure indication that all will get plenty of chances to shine in the season opener this week.
Paris Campbell and K.J. Hill are listed as co-starters at H-back. Austin Mack and Binjimen Victor both are listed at one wide receiver spot, and Johnnie Dixon and Terry McLaurin are slotted in at the other. While all have game experience, none has been a major contributor yet at Ohio State.
Who will become deep-ball pass threat for Ohio State?
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — There are no marquee names among the Ohio State wide receivers. At least not yet.
The Buckeyes are hoping one of the half dozen or so experienced receivers can become a household name — or at least emerge as the reliable deep-ball threat the team has been missing.
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said Tuesday that Parris Campbell is distinguishing himself at receiver, and K.J. Hill, Terry McLaurin and Binjimen Victor are right behind him as the Buckeyes try to breathe some life back into their passing game this spring.
Struggling Buckeyes offense may be without injured Campbell
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio State's struggling offense may have to do without starting wide receiver and kick returner Parris Campbell against No. 9 Nebraska on Saturday.
Campbell, a sophomore who this season was seeing his first significant playing time, left the game in the fourth quarter after being hurt while blocking for Curtis Samuel. Coach Urban Meyer said Monday that Campbell has a high ankle sprain and is questionable for this week's game.
