CHICAGO (AP) — Candice Dupree and Cappie Pondexter had 22 points each to help the Indiana Fever close the season with a 97-92 victory over the Chicago Sky on Sunday.
The Fever snapped a five-game losing to finish a WNBA-worst 6-28.
Kelsey Mitchell and Tiffany Mitchell added 14 points apiece for Indiana, and Natalie Achonwa had 11.
Plum scores 20 points, Aces beat Fever to snap 5-game skid
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Kelsey Plum scored 20 points and the Las Vegas Aces never trailed in snapping a five-game losing streak with a 92-74 victory over the Indiana Fever on Saturday night.
A'ja Wilson added 19 points and eight rebounds and Kayla McBride had 18 points for the Aces (13-18). Plum had a pair of 3-pointers in her fourth 20-point game in the last five games.
The Aces narrowed their margin to 1 1/2 games behind eight-place Dallas for the last WNBA playoffs spot.
Sparks win 5th straight, beat Fever 74-55
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Candace Parker scored 15 and the Los Angeles Sparks used their defense to win their fifth straight, 74-55 over the Indiana Fever on Tuesday night.
The Fever's offensive output was a season low in scoring as well as a season best defensively for the Sparks (9-2).
Los Angeles pulled away with 12 straight points to lead 70-53 on Chelsea Gray's basket with 1:31 left in the game. Gray added 14 points and Nneka Ogwumike scored 12.
Shorthanded Sparks keep Fever winless, 87-70
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Nneka Ogwumike had 25 points and 10 rebounds to help the Los Angeles Sparks beat the Indiana Fever 87-70 on Tuesday night.
Los Angeles, which took over the top spot in the AP WNBA power poll this week, jumped out to a 20-6 lead and it was 50-36 at the half behind 17 points from Ogwumike. Indiana pulled within 67-57 early in the fourth quarter but the Sparks answered with a 9-2 run and led by double figures the rest of the way.
Quigley, DeShields lead Sky over Fever 82-64
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Allie Quigley scored 19, Diamond DeShields added 18 points in her WNBA debut, and the Chicago Sky beat the Indiana Fever 82-64 in the season opener for both teams Saturday.
Chicago led 36-34 at halftime and held the lead throughout the second half. Indiana got within 58-54 on Erica Wheeler's driving layup with 7:19 left in the fourth quarter, but the Sky went on a 10-2 run and led by double digits the rest of the way.
Fever lose guard Briann January to season-ending knee injury
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana Fever guard Briann January will miss the final two weeks of the WNBA season because of a knee injury.
The nine-year veteran has torn cartilage in her right knee. She is averaging 9.5 points and 3.9 assists in 25 games this season.
January played on the Fever's 2012 championship team and helped Indiana reach the WNBA Finals in 2009 and 2015.
Mystics beat Fever, Storm defeat Mercury
WASHINGTON (AP) — Krystal Thomas had 20 points and 14 rebounds as the Washington Mystics beat the Indiana Fever 100-80 on Saturday in a WNBA game that was delayed 48 minutes to start the second half because of water on the court.
The Mystics (16-10) were up by 13 at the half when the game was delayed because of a leak in the Verizon Center roof. The teams entertained themselves and the fans during part of the delay by having a dance contest.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Tina Charles scored 25 points, Sugar Rodgers made two free throws with 11.2 seconds left and the New York Liberty beat the Indiana Fever 85-84 on Friday night.
Charles drew a double team in the paint and found Bria Hartley for an open 3-pointer with 1:19 left to give New York an 83-82 lead. After empty possessions at both ends, Indiana's Erica Wheeler had a layup blocked out of bounds by Kiah Stokes and Candice Dupree missed a baseline jumper.
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Isabelle Harrison had 18 points and nine rebounds, rookie Kelsey Plum scored a season-high 16 points and the San Antonio Stars beat the Indiana Fever 85-61 on Thursday night for their second series victory in eight days.
San Antonio raced to an 11-2 lead, held San Antonio to 12 first-quarter points and cruised. The Stars were ahead 47-26 at the break after shooting 60 percent and extended it to a 29-point lead after closing the third quarter on a 14-0 run.
Wheeler’s 20 points leads Fever by Dream 85-74
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Erica Wheeler had 20 points and seven assists, Tiffany Mitchell scored all 14 of her points in the second half and the Indiana Fever beat the Atlanta Dream 85-74 on Thursday night.
Atlanta pulled to 76-72 with 2:09 left but Wheeler answered with her second 3-pointer for a seven-point lead. The Dream's Layshia Clarendon missed a layup and Indiana scored on its next two possessions — on jumpers by Natalie Achonwa and Candice Dupree — to seal it.
