A talented group of actors find themselves at a dull gathering in slight 71-minute film
"The Party" is a piffle.
A comedy of manners centered on a dinner party gone off the rails, "The Party" seeks to send up its bourgeois guests with shocking revelations about their pasts, served up one at a time like hors d'oeuvres. But a few minutes with these partygoers is more than enough to know you're better off staying home.
"The Party" takes place in just one location - a home somewhere in London - and runs in real time, a very brief 71 minutes. But this stagey setup, instead of mimicking realism, only reinforces the artificiality and clichés of this evening-soiree-gone-wrong exercise.

Jordan and Lupita N'yongo, possibly live up to the heavy burden of expectations? So far, it looks like millions of us are going to be lining up this weekend to find out.
