Paramount Pictures says Wednesday that "Top Gun: Maverick" is being pushed back a year to a June 26, 2020 theatrical release. The Tom Cruise-starrer is in production and had been previously set to fly into theaters next summer.

NEW YORK (AP) — Miles Teller has been cast as the son of Goose in the long-planned sequel to "Top Gun."
Teller was announced Tuesday as the co-star opposite Tom Cruise in "Top Gun: Maverick." He'll be playing the son the of Maverick's wingman. Goose was played by Anthony Edwards in the 1986 original.
The film, which will also returns Val Kilmer as Iceman, is scheduled to be released by Paramount Pictures in July 2019. Directing is Joe Kosinski, who helmed "Oblivion," also with Cruise.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Tom Cruise is back on the flight line for a sequel to the 1986 film "Top Gun."
The actor on Thursday tweeted a photo of himself as Navy pilot Pete "Maverick" Mitchell in a flight suit, looking at a fighter jet. The photo includes the phrase "feel the need." In the original movie, Cruise's character talks about how he feels the need for speed.

Paul Bloch, a veteran Hollywood publicist for Rogers & Cowan who counted John Travolta, Eddie Murphy and Tom Cruise among his clients in a career that spanned more than five decades, died Friday after a long illness. He was 78.
Bloch died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, said longtime friend and fellow publicist Stan Rosenfield. Rosenfield called Bloch "THE most respected veteran in the business."

Traffic was halted Saturday on Blackfriars Bridge and boats were kept from the area as the film star performed the stunt over the Thames River. A low-flying helicopter was filming the scene.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — Technical equipment to shoot "Mission: Impossible 6" is being helicoptered in to southern Norway's most famous tourist attraction — which means the site is being temporarily closed off for visitors.
Cameras are to be rolling Tuesday through Thursday at the Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock), a plateau and spectacular viewpoint over Norway's mountainous landscape that sits more than 600 meters (nearly 2,000 feet) above the Lysefjord.

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Tom Cruise, "Late Show" host Stephen Colbert and the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia are among the 51 people nominated for the New Jersey Hall of Fame.
The hall honors people in five categories who live or have lived in New Jersey. Cruise spent part of his early years growing up in New Jersey, and Colbert lives in Montclair. Scalia was born in Trenton.
