MONTPELLIER, France (AP) — Former champion Tomas Berdych reached the Open Sud de France semifinals the hard way, saving two match points in a 7-6 (3), 6-7 (5), 7-5 win against Filip Krajinovic on Friday.

MONTPELLIER, France (AP) — Former champion Tomas Berdych swept aside Benoit Paire 6-2, 6-0 in less than one hour on Wednesday to reach the Open Sud de France quarterfinals.
The unseeded Czech broke Paire's serve five times, and saved both break points he faced against the eighth-seeded Frenchman. Berdych, who won the indoor hardcourt title in 2012, next faces Filip Krajinovic of Serbia in their first meeting on the ATP Tour.
Tomas Berdych enjoys winning return to Open Sud de France
MONTPELLIER, France (AP) — Former champion Tomas Berdych made a winning return to the Open Sud de France on Tuesday with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 victory over German qualifier Matthias Bachinger.
Berdych, who won the hardcourt title in 2012, saved seven of the 11 break points he faced to win in 2 hours, 12 minutes.
The Czech player will next face eighth-seeded Benoit Paire, who defeated Evgeny Donskoy of Russia 7-5, 6-3. Berdych has won all three previous meetings against the French player.
One of the sleepers, Berdych, reawakens rivalry with Nadal
MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — The men's tennis tour picked four "sleepers" to watch at the Australian Open. One of them has reached the fourth round at the Australian Open as many times — 11 — as Stefan Edberg, who won two titles in five finals here. He also has won more matches (47) at the season-opening Grand Slam in the Open era than Pete Sampras, who won two Australian titles among his 14 majors.
Top-seeded Isner beaten in 2nd round of ASB Classic

Defending champion withdraws from men’s ASB Classic
AUCKLAND, New Zealand (AP) — Defending champion Roberta Bautista Agut has joined fellow Doha finalist Tomas Berdych in withdrawing from the Auckland ATP Tour event which starts Monday.
Bautista Agut was to be the fifth seed at the Auckland tournament, the ASB Classic, but pulled out after reaching the Doha final in which he beat Berdych 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
His appearance in the final meant there was insufficient time to travel to Auckland for his first-round match.
Bautista Agut holds off Berdych to win Qatar Open
DOHA, Qatar (AP) — Roberto Bautista Agut didn't waste his win over Novak Djokovic as he won the Qatar Open by beating Tomas Berdych 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in the final on Saturday.
A day after upsetting the world No. 1, Bautista Agut held off Berdych to win his ninth ATP title.
Bautista Agut missed three chances to lead 5-1 in the third set, then Berdych blew two chances to get the deciding set back on serve at 4-2 down. Those were the Swede's last chances.
LONDON (AP) — Tomas Berdych, the 2010 Wimbledon runner-up, has pulled out of the grass-court Grand Slam tournament because of a bad back.
Berdych announced his withdrawal on Twitter, saying he has been "struggling with back pain" for a couple of months.
The 19th-ranked Czech lost in the final at the All England Club eight years ago to Rafael Nadal.

SYDNEY (AP) — Tennis Australia said Friday that Alex de Minaur has been given Australia's reciprocal wild card into the French Open starting on May 27.
De Minaur, 19, has improved his ATP ranking by almost half in 2018 to move to No. 106, nearly qualifying him for the main draw.
In January, he advanced to the semifinals of the Brisbane International and the Sydney International final before losing in the first round of the Australian Open to Tomas Berdych.

MARSEILLE, France (AP) — Third-seeded Lucas Pouille remains on course for his second ATP title of the season after beating qualifier Ilya Ivashka 6-3, 7-6 (6) to reach the Open 13 final on Saturday.
The 16th-ranked Pouille won the Open Sud de France two weeks ago and is gunning for his sixth career title.

MARSEILLE, France (AP) — Third-seeded Frenchman Lucas Pouille and fourth-seeded Czech Tomas Berdych advanced to the Open 13 semifinals on Friday.
Pouille beat eighth-seeded Filip Krajinovic of Serbia 7-6 (5), 3-6, 6-4, hitting 20 aces and securing victory on his first match point when he broke Krajinovic's serve for the first time.

BELGRADE, Serbia (AP) — Novak Djokovic's team says Andre Agassi will remain his coach in 2018.
The 12-time Grand Slam champion stepped off the ATP Tour following Wimbledon, where he retired during his quarterfinal against Tomas Berdych because of an elbow injury.
Djokovic brought Agassi into his team in May before the French Open. They worked together for two months. After Wimbledon, there were doubts the American great would continue coaching the Serb.
Federer beats Kyrgios as Europe wins 1st Laver Cup
PRAGUE (AP) — Roger Federer rallied to beat Nick Kyrgios 4-6, 7-6 (6), 11-9 Sunday and clinch the new Laver Cup tournament for Europe on Sunday.
The three-day competition at Prague's O2 Arena pitted a team of the best six European players against the top six from the rest of the world.
Seen by some as a tennis version of the Ryder Cup in golf, the inaugural Laver Cup was played on an unusual black hard court.
Nadal, Federer team up for first victorious doubles
PRAGUE (AP) — Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer joined forces to win the doubles in the new Laver Cup on Saturday.

Novak Djokovic’s wife gives birth to their second child
BELGRADE, Serbia (AP) — Reports in Serbia say Novak Djokovic's wife Jelena has given birth to a baby girl, their second child.
The Blic daily said Sunday the pair has named the baby Tara. The 30-year-old Serb is also father to a three-year-old boy, Stefan.
Djokovic's former coach Boris Becker congratulated the couple on Twitter, saying "Wonderful news from Jelena /Novak!!!"

Tomas Berdych fires coach Goran Ivanisevic
PRAGUE (AP) — Tomas Berdych fired former Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic from being his coach on Monday.
Berdych was eliminated from the French Open in the second round by Karen Khachanov of Russia 7-5, 6-4, 6-4.
"Goran and I will not be working together anymore," Berdych said. "I enjoyed the ride and we will remain great friends. Wish him all the best in the future and I am committed to go after my goals with current team."
PARIS (AP) — Not long ago, Ernests Gulbis played a semifinal at the French Open then broke into the top 10.
A long list of injuries later, the Latvian player has dropped to 230 in the ATP rankings and there is no sign he will get back to his best soon.

LYON, France (AP) — Second-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France won his first title on clay when he defeated Tomas Berdych 7-6 (2), 7-5 in the Lyon Open final on Saturday.
Tsonga dropped just three points behind his first serve, hit 13 aces, and saved all two break points to down his third-seeded Czech opponent.
Tsonga's victory came a day before the French Open starts in Paris. No Frenchman has won the Roland Garros title since Yannick Noah lifted the Mousquetaires Cup in 1983.
Raonic and Tsonga reach Lyon semifinals
LYON, France (AP) — Top-seeded Milos Raonic of Canada eased into the semifinals of the Lyon Open with a straight sets victory over Portuguese qualifier Gastao Elias on Thursday.
Elias had defeated Juan Martin del Potro the previous day, but Raonic was never in difficulty as he won 6-4, 6-3. He will next play third-seeded Tomas Berdych after the Czech player beat No. 5 Gilles Simon 6-4, 6-0.
