SEATTLE (AP) — Jean Segura rolled an RBI single up the middle with two outs in the 13th inning to cap a two-run rally and give the Seattle Mariners a 6-5 victory over the Boston Red Sox in a game that ended early Wednesday morning.
SEATTLE (AP) — Kendrys Morales, Ezequiel Carrera and Justin Smoak, all one-time members of the Seattle Mariners organization, provided the big blows for a game that sounded like it belonged in Toronto.
Carrera led off the eighth inning with his fifth homer of the season to break a 2-all tie, Morales and Smoak each added long balls and the Blue Jays continued their reliance on the home run in a 4-2 win over the Mariners on Saturday night.
SEATTLE (AP) — After expecting the night off, Tony Zych made the most of a surprise call in the ninth inning.
Nelson Cruz and Kyle Seager each hit a two-run homer, and Zych bailed out struggling closer Edwin Diaz with a game-ending strikeout with the bases loaded to preserve Seattle's 6-5 victory over the Oakland Athletics as the Mariners made the most of four hits on Monday.
DETROIT (AP) — Kyle Seager and Ben Gamel lifted Seattle past Detroit — at closer Francisco Rodriguez's expense.
Seager doubled off Rodriguez with one out in the ninth, and Gamel followed with an RBI single to right-center field in the Mariners' 2-1 victory Thursday.
"Kyle had a great at-bat, and I got a good look at what K-Rod was throwing." Gamel said. "I knew he was going to throw me a changeup on 2-2, and that's what I got."
Rodriguez (1-2) has a 6.23 ERA in nine games this season.
SEATTLE (AP) — Mariners pitcher Taijuan Walker had surgery Monday to remove a bone fragment from his right ankle, one of three Seattle pitchers to undergo surgery since the end of the regular season.
Walker is expected to start rehabbing immediately and should be ready for the start of spring training. Walker was bothered in the second half of the season by ankle and foot issues, including a stint on the disabled list.
