MIAMI (AP) — Trejon Jacob scored five of his 24 points in the final two minutes to help Florida International pull away from Louisiana Tech 75-69 on Saturday.
The Golden Panthers (14-9, 5-5 Conference USA) tied it at 66 on Willy Nunez Jr.'s layup with 3:20 left. Jacob hit a 3-pointer with 1:45 left to give FIU the lead for good and Brian Beard Jr. scored back-to-back layups in the final minute to extend the lead to 73-66.
FIU holds off FAU 78-74 behind Andrews, Jacob
BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) — Devon Andrews scored 19 points, Trejon Jacob added 15 and Florida International held off Florida Atlantic 78-74 on Wednesday night.
FAU rallied from 12 points down and closed to 76-74 on Michael Forrest's 3 with 16 seconds left and Brian Beard Jr. missed a pair of free throws at the other end. But Xavian Stapleton missed a layup with four seconds left and Antonio Daye Jr. iced it with two from the line.
Jacob, Osaghae help FIU hold off Charlotte 69-66
MIAMI (AP) — Trejon Jacob hit three 3-pointers and scored 19 points and Osasumwen Osaghae finished with 13 points, seven rebounds, seven blocked shots and three steals to guide Florida International to a 69-66 victory over Charlotte on Thursday night.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Brian Beard Jr. had 23 points, five rebounds, six assists and four steals and powered a late run to help Florida International beat Charlotte 89-83 on Thursday night.
The Golden Panthers (14-16, 8-9 Conference USA) needed Beard's late effort to get their third straight win as the 49ers led 79-78 on Jon Davis' layup with 2:47 left. Beard then scored all the points in FIU's 9-0 run to pull away for good.
Hussein puts Florida International over Rice 67-64
MIAMI (AP) — Hassan Hussein made a layup late in the game to give Florida International the lead for good in a 67-64 win over Rice on Saturday night.
The Golden Panthers (13-16, 7-9 Conference USA) trailed by one when Hussein got the dish from Brian Beard Jr. and scored with 36 seconds to play to put them on top 65-64. Eric Lockett hit two free throws after that for the final.
Lockett’s late FT pushes FIU past North Texas 69-68
MIAMI (AP) — Eric Lockett made the first of two free-throw attempts with 6.8 seconds left to give Florida International a 69-68 victory over North Texas on Thursday night.
Ryan Woolridge grabbed the defensive rebound from Lockett's second shot at the line, but then missed a layup to end it.
Trejon Jacob and Michael Douglas scored 14 points apiece to lead FIU (12-16, 6-9 Conference USA). Lockett finished with 13 points.

MIAMI (AP) — Chris Cokley had 18 points and nine rebounds on Saturday night and UAB had a controlling lead almost the entire way in a 75-64 win over Florida International.
The Golden Panthers answered UAB's opening basket and then the Blazers (11-5, 2-1 Conference USA) scored 16 straight to open an 18-2 lead. FIU (7-9, 1-2) had a 13-4 run to close within 30-23, but UAB scored 12 straight near the end of the period and led by double digits the rest of the way.
Potts, King lead Middle Tennessee comeback at FIU, 71-66 OT

Florida International nips FAU to win C-USA opener, 58-57
MIAMI (AP) — Brian Beard Jr. hit a pair of free throws with just under a minute left to earn Florida International a 58-57 win over Florida Atlantic in the Conference USA opener for both schools Saturday night.
Neither team could take more than a three-point lead in the closing minutes and the lead changed hands on nearly every made basket.
Jacob with 24 points, FIU upends South Alabama 85-59
MIAMI (AP) — Trejon Jacob scored 24 points and grabbed six rebounds as Florida International upended South Alabama 85-59 on Saturday night.
Jacob was 9 of 15 from the field including four 3-pointers for the Golden Panthers (4-4). Eric Lockett added 16 points, five rebounds and seven assists, Brian Beard Jr. and Willy Nunez Jr. had 14 points apiece and Hassan Hussein had 12 points and five rebounds.
FIU had 12 team steals contributing to 17 South Alabama turnovers.
Florida International dumps Concordia (St. Paul) 77-67
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Trejon Jacob scored a career-high 23 points, Michael Douglas added a career-high 16 and Florida International beat Division II Concordia-St. Paul 77-67 on Sunday.
The Golden Panthers never trailed and extended their early 17-16 lead to 29-18 when Douglas converted a 3-point play and made a 3-pointer with 7:33 before halftime. Concordia shot 1 of 9 in the final six minutes of the first half.
Stamps, Jacob lead FIU to 70-47 win over Florida Memorial
MIAMI (AP) — Josh Stamps and Trejon Jacob scored 15 points apiece to lead Florida International to a 70-47 win over Florida Memorial in the season opener for both teams Friday night.
Florida International broke away with a 12-0 run to open the second half and extend its lead to 47-31 with just under 14 minutes left to play. Stamps and Eric Lockett had 3-pointers in the breakaway run and Florida International led by double figures the rest of the way.
