Akinjo sparks late rally, leads Georgetown over Xavier 80-73
WASHINGTON (AP) — James Akinjo scored 10 of his 23 points during a rally with just under five minutes to play to spark Georgetown past Xavier 80-73 on Thursday night.
Akinjo hit a 3-pointer with 4:56 remaining to give the Hoyas a 67-66 lead as they closed on a 16-7 surge. Akinjo made two 3s and four free throws during the stretch. Trey Mourning added a 3-pointer, and Jamorko Pickett scored on a putback that made it 75-70 with 38 seconds to go before Akinjo sealed it at the line.
Malinowski’s big night sparks Georgetown past Butler, 84-76
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Greg Malinowski was a career-best 6 of 7 from 3-point range and scored a career-high 26 points as Georgetown opened Big East Conference play with an 84-76 win at Butler on Wednesday night.
The senior guard hit 10 of 12 shots from the field, grabbed six rebounds and dished four assists. Georgetown starter Trey Mourning missed his third straight game due to concussion protocol.

Georgetown holds off Central Connecticut State 85-78
WASHINGTON (AP) — Jessie Govan scored 26 points and Georgetown made key 3-pointers down the stretch to beat Central Connecticut State 85-78 on Saturday night.
Govan was 10 of 13 from the field including two 3s. James Akinjo made all eight of his free-throw attempts and finished with 13 points for Georgetown (2-0), which made 11 3-pointers. Jamorko Pickett added 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting from long range. Trey Mourning also chipped in 12 points.
Georgetown beats Maryland Eastern Shore 68-53
WASHINGTON (AP) — Jessie Govan scored 13 points, freshman Josh LeBlanc had 11 points and 11 rebounds and Georgetown beat Maryland Eastern Shore 68-53 on Tuesday night.
Patrick Ewing begins his second year as the Georgetown coach, looking to build off a 15-15 season a year ago.
Jamorko Pickett made three 3-pointers and scored 11 points for Georgetown, which has won all nine games in the series. James Akinjo had seven assists in 26 minutes and Trey Mourning made the first start of his career.
Welcome home, Trey: Mourning, Hoyas top La Salle 93-78
MIAMI (AP) — Trey Mourning was the last Georgetown player to get into the game, as well as the last player to leave the court after posing for plenty of photos and hugs with friends and family.
Best of all, his team got a win.
L.J. Peak scored 24 points, Rodney Pryor added 19 and Georgetown closed with a flourish to beat La Salle 93-78 on Saturday in the Hoophall Miami Invitational. It was tied at 67 with 8:44 left, before the Hoyas finished on a 26-11 run.
