BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — The Florida Panthers got the third-period response they were looking for, and they continued their dominance over the Buffalo Sabres.
Evgenii Dadonov had two goals and an assist, including the go-ahead tally on a penalty shot, as the Panthers scored three quick goals to open the final period and picked up their seventh straight win over the Sabres, 5-2 on Tuesday night. Florida had previously been outscored 42-23 in the third period, the worst margin in the NHL.
Martinook’s hat trick leads Hurricanes past Panthers 4-1
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Jordan Martinook doesn't think it's his job to score goals for the Carolina Hurricanes.
"I'm just a guy that goes and works hard and if they come, they come," Martinook said.
The goals came in bunches for Martinook on Friday night as the Hurricanes' third-line winger recorded his first hat trick in a 4-1 win over the Florida Panthers.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Steven Stamkos had a goal and three assists and the Tampa Bay Lightning reclaimed the top spot in the Eastern Conference with a 7-3 victory over the Florida Panthers on Wednesday night.
Nikita Kucherov and Ryan McDonagh each had a goal and two assists. Mathieu Joseph, Yanni Gourde, Adam Erne and Dan Giradi also scored, J.T. Miller had three assists, and Louis Domingue made 40 saves.
The Lightning are 11-1-1 at home against Florida since the start of the 2013-14 season.

Panthers agree to terms with Brouwer on 1-year deal
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — The Florida Panthers agreed to terms Monday with veteran right winger Troy Brouwer on an $850,000, one-year contract.
Brouwer became a free agent when the Calgary Flames bought out the final two years of his deal.
"Troy is a skilled veteran forward with championship experience," general manager Dale Tallon said. "He adds depth to our forward group and his leadership will help our developing young core take the next step this season."
CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — The Calgary Flames have placed assistant captain Troy Brouwer on unconditional waivers with the intention of buying out the remaining two years of his contract.
The move was announced by the team Thursday and will save the Flames $3 million in space under the salary cap in each of the next two seasons.
Brouwer has struggled in two seasons since signing an $18 million, four-year contract with the Flames in free agency.
Gillies, Backlund lead Flames to 5-1 win over Avalanche
CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — Michael Frolik took a pass from Mikael Backlund in the slot and fired a shot past goalie Semyon Varlamov just 18 seconds after the opening faceoff. The Calgary Flames didn't let up.
Jon Gillies made 28 saves for his second straight victory, Backlund had a goal and two assists and the Flames beat the Colorado Avalanche 5-1 on Saturday.
Eichel scores in OT to give Sabres rare win in Calgary
CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — It took some extra time, but Jack Eichel finally solved Mike Smith.
On his 13th attempt and seventh shot on goal of the night, Eichel scored 1:30 into overtime to give the Buffalo Sabres their first win at Calgary in more than 14 years, 2-1 over the Flames on Monday night.
Elliott, Flyers snap 10-game skid with 5-2 win over Flames
CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — Scott Laughton scored twice, Brian Elliott made 43 saves and the Philadelphia Flyers snapped a 10-game losing streak Monday night with a 5-2 win over the Calgary Flames.
Calgary held a wide edge in play, outshooting Philadelphia 45-21, but the opportunistic Flyers scored three times in a 1:11 span of the second period to break open a 1-all game.

Trying to protect a fractured cheekbone Abdelkader was wearing at Monday's practice — and will continue to wear — a face shield.

Coach Jeff Blashill said after Saturday's morning skate Abdelkader has a fractured cheekbone and is considered day-to-day until after seeing a specialist Monday.
"He'll see a specialist Monday and we'll have more (information) from there," Blashill said. "We don't anticipate it being a long-term thing. But until he sees the specialist, we don't know."

Monahan scored his team-leading 26th goal and added three assists and the Flames beat the Colorado Avalanche 4-2 on Monday.
With six games remaining, Calgary can clinch a playoff spot for just the second time in the past eight seasons with a regulation win over Los Angeles on Wednesday.
