JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Jason Burnell matched his career high with 30 points as Jacksonville State defeated Tennessee State 84-65 on Saturday night.
Jamall Gregory had 13 points for Jacksonville State (19-8, 11-3 Ohio Valley Conference). Ty Hudson added 10 points. Christian Cunningham had nine rebounds for the home team.
Stokley Chaffee Jr. had 17 points for the Tigers (8-18, 5-9). Kamar McKnight added 12 points. Tripp Davis had 12 points and six rebounds.
Jacksonville St tops Tennessee Tech 67-57, shares 2nd in OVC
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Jason Burnell and Marlon Hunter combined for 41 points and Jacksonville State defeated Tennessee Tech 67-57 Thursday night.
With the win, Jacksonville State finds itself in a second-place tie with Austin Peay in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Gamecocks and the Governors are 10-3 after Austin Peay was tipped 73-71 by Murray State Thursday. Murray State and Belmont share first place at 11-2.
Parks’ late 3 lets UT Martin upset Jacksonville State, 66-64
MARTIN, Tenn. (AP) — Preston Parks hit the game-winning 3-pointer with more than a minute left to lift UT Martin to a 66-64 win over Jacksonville State in an Ohio Valley Conference battle on Thursday night.
The loss knocks Jacksonville State two games back of the three-team logjam atop the conference standings.

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Jason Burnell had 14 points and 14 rebounds and Jacksonville State beat Tennessee Tech 65-48 on Saturday night to remain undefeated in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Ty Hudson added 14 points for the Gamecocks (14-5, 6-0 OVC), who are riding a seven-game win streak and have won 14 of 16. The victory also tied coach Ray Harper's squad for the longest winning streak in the program's Division I history, and matched Mark Turgeon's 1999-00 team for best D-I conference start.
Jacksonville State holds SIU-Edwardsville to 54 points
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Jason Burnell scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds, Jacara Cross added 15 points, and Jacksonville State routed SIU-Edwardsville 90-54 on Saturday for its largest margin of victory over an Ohio Valley Conference opponent in school history.
Marlon Hunter scored 14 points for the Gamecocks (12-5, 4-0), who never trailed and shot 60 percent in winning their fifth straight.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Detrick Mostella scored 15 points, Ty Hudson added 12 and Jacksonville State held off cold-shooting Tennessee State 69-62 on Saturday night.
The Gamecocks were down 51-47 when the Tigers scored with 9:54 remaining. Then the Tigers had six turnovers and five misses before their next bucket with 1:09 to play to trail 63-58.

Sharkey’s big night leads Samford in 92-72 victory
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Josh Sharkey scored 22 points, had 10 assists and made eight steals and Samford defeated Jacksonville State 92-72 on Friday night.
Sharkey was 5 of 8 from the field and hit 10 of 11 free throws in leading five Bulldogs (2-0) in double-figure scoring. Ruben Guerrero had 14 points, Brandon Austin and Myron Gordon 13 each and Robert Allen 11. Samford shot 55 percent and made 10 of 18 from the arc, led by three from Austin, who had a team-leading seven rebounds.
CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Clemson coach Brad Brownell says point guard Shelton Mitchell will have arthroscopic knee surgery and need six weeks to recover.
Brownell said Saturday that Mitchell should be ready for individual summer workouts. Mitchell is a transfer from Vanderbilt and last year played his first season with the Tigers. He finished second on the team in scoring, averaging 10.8 points game and led Clemson with 103 assists.
