Oilers stop 6-game losing streak with 4-1 win over Wild
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Edmonton Oilers played with an edge and an eagerness to snap out of their slump, taking full advantage of a sleepy start by Minnesota.
The Wild sure could use some of that same urgency.
Darnell Nurse gave Edmonton an early boost by scoring 2:15 into the first period, and the Oilers stopped a six-game losing streak with a 4-1 victory Thursday night that sent the Wild to their fourth straight loss.
"We just were hungry," Oilers coach Ken Hitchcock said.
Varlamov stops 26 shots, Avalanche beat Oilers 4-1
EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — The Colorado Avalanche broke out of their slump by beating a team struggling just as much as them.
Semyon Varlamov stopped 26 shots to help the Avalanche beat the Edmonton Oilers 4-1 Sunday night to snap a five-game losing streak.
Mikko Rantanen, Carl Soderberg and Tyson Barrie each had a goal and an assist, and Alexander Kerfoot also scored for the Avalanche.
Edmonton Oilers edge Cologne 4-3 in OT in exhibition game
COLOGNE, Germany (AP) — Ryan Strome scored with 2:53 left in overtime as the Edmonton Oilers beat the German league's Cologne Sharks 4-3 in an exhibition game Wednesday.
Strome redirected a pass from Ethan Bear for the winner. Tobias Rieder, Milan Lucic and Ty Rattie also scored for the Oilers, who outshot the Sharks 37-19. The game was a homecoming for Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl, a Cologne native. He had one assist. Jason Akeson, Moritz Muller and Ben Hanowski scored for Cologne.

Connor McDavid had three assists to push his NHL-leading points total to 106 and help Edmonton beat Vegas 4-3 on Thursday night, improving to 3-1 against the Pacific Division winners.
EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — In the midst of a tight playoff race, the Anaheim Ducks showed determination in a come-from-behind win Sunday night.
Hampus Lindholm scored 1:21 into overtime to lift the Ducks over the Edmonton Oilers 5-4. Adam Henrique had two goals and Josh Manson and Corey Perry also scored for the Ducks, who are on a 5-0-1 streak.
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Nikita Kucherov scored twice to lift the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 3-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday.
Louis Domingue stopped 28 shots to help the Lightning end a two-game slide and move back to four points ahead of Boston for the top overall spot in the Eastern Conference standings. Victor Hedman also scored and Steven Stamkos added two assists.
McDavid has 1 goal, 2 assists in Oilers’ 4-2 victory
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — Connor McDavid kept the Edmonton Oilers on a roll on Saturday.
McDavid had a goal and two assists in the third period and the Oilers rallied for a 4-2 victory over the Florida Panthers.
"It helps when you score early in the third. In today's day and age, I feel if you have a one-goal lead you just try to hold on to it as long as you can," said McDavid, who scored on the first shift of the third period.
Canes claim Rattie off waivers from Blues in series of moves
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The Carolina Hurricanes have claimed winger Ty Rattie off waivers from the St. Louis Blues and placed backup goalie Eddie Lack on injured reserve.
In a series of moves Wednesday, general manager Ron Francis also says the Hurricanes recalled goalie Michael Leighton from their AHL affiliate in Charlotte and sent goalie Daniel Altshuller back to the minors.
The 23-year-old Rattie has not played in an NHL game since Nov. 28 and scored all four of his career goals last season.
Blues open NHL preseason with 2 wins against Blue Jackets
Pheonix Copley and Jordan Binnington combined for 23 saves to help the St. Louis Blues beat the Blue Jackets 5-0 Sunday night in Columbus, Ohio, to complete a sweep of the teams' two split-squad games on the opening day of the NHL preseason.
Binnington made 12 saves in his 31 minutes, 19 seconds, and Copley stopped the 11 shots he faced in 28:41.
T.J. Galiardi, Ty Rattie, Kyle Brodziak, Eric Nostrum and Jordan Kyrou scored for St. Louis.
