RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Carlos Johnson scored a career-high 26 points on 11-of-15 shooting to help Grand Canyon beat California Baptist 90-73 on Saturday night for its fourth consecutive win.
Alessandro Lever had 13 points, Damari Milstead added 11 and Trey Dreschel scored 10 with eight rebounds for Grand Canyon. The Antelopes (13-7, 6-1 Western Athletic Conference) shot 60 percent (18 of 30) while outscoring Cal Baptist 51-35 in the second half.
Rowell hits corner 3, Cal Baptist hangs for 77-75 win
CHICAGO (AP) — Jordan Heading scored 26 points, Ty Rowell drained a wide-open 3-pointer in the final seconds and California Baptist edged Chicago State 77-75 on Saturday, the school's first road victory in Division I.
Trailing 75-74 with the clock under 20 seconds, Milan Acquaah took the ball the length of the court and found Rowell unguarded in the left corner. Rowell dropped his fourth 3-pointer for the lead with 11.1 seconds remaining.
Cal Baptist routs D-III La Verne 97-46
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Milan Acquaah had 29 points and a career-high 11 rebounds to help California Baptist rout Division III La Verne 97-46 on Saturday night.
The Lancers 51-point margin of victory is a program best, surpassing a 41-point win over Hawaii Hilo on Jan. 30, 2017. Cal Baptist (8-5) has won four straight and opens Western Athletic Conference play hosting New Mexico State on Thursday.
Henn scores 15, California Baptist beats Cal Tech 87-4489
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Mike Henn hit 3 of 4 from 3-point range and finished with 15 points and Milan Acquaah scored 13 to help California Baptist beat D-III Cal Tech 87-48 on Saturday night.
Ty Rowell added 12 points for California Baptist. It was the first game between the teams since the 1989-90 season but the 17th overall — all wins for the Lancers (5-4).
Arkansas-Pine Bluff outlasts Cal Baptist, 115-107 in 3OT
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Martaveous McKnight scored nine of his 40 points in the third overtime as Arkansas-Pine Bluff beat Cal Baptist 115-107 on Friday.
McKnight had three points and Charles Jackson made a 3-pointer as part of a 10-2 surge to open the third extra period, and the Golden Lions led 108-100 with 1:25 left. Cal Baptist cut the deficit to 109-105 but didn't get closer.
