Braves score 4 runs in 8th, end Rays’ 8-game winning streak
ATLANTA (AP) — Tyler Flowers isn't a fan of pinch-hitting. On his memorable day, even that went right.
Pinch-runner Adam Duvall scored the tiebreaking run on a delayed dash from third base and Flowers hit a two-run homer in Atlanta's four-run eighth inning as the Braves beat Tampa Bay 9-5 on Tuesday night to snap the Rays' eight-game winning streak.

Acuna’s homer-robbing catch helps Braves beat Nats 8-3
WASHINGTON (AP) — First, Braves right-hander Mike Foltynewicz worked his way out of a precarious jam. A few innings later, Ronald Acuna Jr. lent a high-rising, helping hand at the center-field wall.
Combining clutch pitching, long-ball hitting and Acuna's deft skill in the outfield, the Braves beat the Washington Nationals 8-3 Wednesday night.
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Atlanta Braves catcher Tyler Flowers was removed from Friday's game at St. Louis after flying out to end the sixth inning.
Flowers, who came in hitting .248, appeared to hurt his right knee on a swing earlier in the at-bat. He walked off the field on his own, but with a noticeable limp.
Kurt Suzuki replaced him behind the plate to start the bottom of the sixth.
Freeman, Flowers lift Braves over Dodgers 5-3
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Atlanta Braves expected big contributions from Freddie Freeman and Tyler Flowers this season.
Charlie Culberson has been a little more of a surprise, although the Los Angeles Dodgers know all about his timely hitting.
Freeman and Culberson each had three hits, Flowers drove in three runs and the upstart Braves beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-3 on Saturday night.
CHICAGO (AP) — Nobody expected 5-foot-9 Ozzie Albies to be among the major league home run leaders. Same with the Atlanta Braves' rise to the top of the NL East.

Albies hit a leadoff drive for his 13th homer, Jose Bautista connected for a three-run shot and the Braves held off Chicago 6-5 on Monday.

The Braves also added newly acquired catcher Carlos Perez to their 25-man roster.
Atlanta signed the 34-year-old Sanchez to a minor league contract on March 16. He could serve as the team's fifth starting pitcher, possibly until left-hander Luiz Gohara recovers from a sprained left ankle. The Braves are not expected to need a No. 5 starter before April 10 due to off days.
ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves have added catching depth by acquiring Carlos Perez from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for infielder Ryan Schimpf.
The Braves needed help at catcher after they placed Tyler Flowers on the 10-day disabled list with an oblique injury on Friday and Kurt Suzuki suffered a bruised right hand Friday night. Chris Stewart started Saturday night's game against Philadelphia.
Braves place catcher Flowers on DL with oblique strain
ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves put catcher Tyler Flowers on the 10-day disabled list with a strained left oblique on Friday and prepared to be without him for a few weeks.
Flowers sustained the injury on a swing in his first at-bat of the season in Atlanta's 8-5 win over Philadelphia on Thursday. He could not complete the at-bat and headed straight to the clubhouse.
Manager Brian Snitker said Friday that Flowers felt a pop. Snitker said the strain was diagnosed as being of mid-level severity.

Dickey $8M option declined by Braves, who keep Flowers
ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves have declined their $8 million option on 42-year-old knuckleballer R.A. Dickey and exercised their $4 million option on catcher Tyler Flowers.

He gets a $500,000 buyout and becomes eligible for free agency.
Suzuki homers twice as Braves beat Phillies 7-2
ATLANTA (AP) — Kurt Suzuki wishes his newfound home run swing had more significance.
"It would've been cool if this was a playoff push," he said. "It's not that type of situation, but you still have to be a professional and go out there every night, grind out at-bats, play hard and see what happens."
Suzuki homered twice, Nick Markakis drove in three runs and the Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 7-2 on Friday night.
Jose Urena beats Braves 7-1 to end Marlins’ 5-game skid
ATLANTA (AP) — After beginning the season in the bullpen, Jose Urena has developed into perhaps Miami's top starter.
Urena's latest case for ace status was a win against the Braves that ended a losing streak.

Arenado’s rare error helps Braves beat Rockies, 4-3
DENVER (AP) — Nolan Arenado takes pride in his defense, but when his uncharacteristic error put the Colorado Rockies in a hole he tried to atone with his bat.
That didn't work out for the Gold Glove third baseman, either.

The Cubs say X-rays on Bryant were negative. His status is day to day and he will be monitored.
"I think he's doing fine," said manager Joe Maddon. "... I don't have any final conclusions but I think we really kind of dodged the bullet right there."
Astros SS Correa leaves left thumb discomfort
ATLANTA (AP) — Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa has left their game at Atlanta with left thumb discomfort.
Correa, who was elected by fans to start the All-Star Game next Tuesday in Miami, got hurt on a headfirst slide into home in the fourth inning. He appeared to jam his thumb against Tyler Flowers as the catcher tagged him out.
Correa was replaced in the field before the Braves batted in the bottom half. X-rays on the thumb were negative, and the Astros say he is day to day.

ATLANTA (AP) — Atlanta's lineup hasn't looked power-deprived without injured star Freddie Freeman in two wins over the NL East-leading Nationals.
