DENVER (AP) — The Vancouver Canucks were refreshed after a nine-day break. The Colorado Avalanche looked like the same team that stumbled into its hiatus.
Jake Virtanen and Antoine Roussel each had a goal and an assist as the Canucks raced to an early lead and defeated Colorado 5-1 Saturday night.
Pettersson, Roussel power Canucks past Oilers 4-2
EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — The Vancouver Canucks have climbed back to .500, yet head coach Travis Green isn't satisfied yet.
Elias Pettersson and Antoine Roussel each had a goal and an assist as the Canucks defeated the Edmonton Oilers 4-2 on Thursday night.
The Canucks scored four goals on their first six shots. Tyler Motte and Brock Boeser also scored for Vancouver, which is 7-2-1 in its last 10 games.
Wild score 3 power-play goals in 3-2 win over Canucks
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — A big advantage on special teams was the difference Tuesday night for the Minnesota Wild.
Ryan Suter and Jason Zucker scored 55 seconds apart late in the second period and the Wild converted on all three of their power plays, beating the staggering Vancouver Canucks 3-2 to stop a three-game slide.
"Three goals on the power play, that's the recipe for a win on the road. It's a good two points for us," said Mikael Granlund, who had two assists.
DALLAS (AP) — Reid Boucher and Nic Dowd are near the bottom of Vancouver's scoring leaderboard, with the Canucks sitting near the bottom of the standings.
They combined to help Vancouver pull Dallas down toward the bottom Sunday night.
Boucher and Dowd each scored on the power play in a 4-1 win over the reeling Dallas Stars, who are stuck in an 0-6-2 skid.
It was the third goal of the season for each of Vancouver's surprise contributors. Dowd wasn't even supposed to be on the ice on the power play.
Canucks trade Thomas Vanek to Blue Jackets
Veteran forward Thomas Vanek brings another consistent goal scorer to a Columbus Blue Jackets team that has struggled with production while staying in the playoff race.
The 34-year-old Vanek was traded to Columbus from the Vancouver Canucks on Monday for forwards Jussi Jokinen and Tyler Motte.
Anderson, Bjorkstrand lead Blue Jackets past Panthers 7-3
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — The Columbus Blue Jackets finally got their power play rolling again.
Oliver Bjorkstrand had two goals, including the tiebreaker with the man advantage, and Josh Anderson also scored twice to lift the Blue Jackets over the Florida Panthers 7-3 on Thursday night.
Bjorkstrand's power-play goal was the first on the road in 15 tries this season for Columbus, which entered 3 for 35 on the power play.
Wild trades center Jordan Schroeder to Blue Jackets
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The Columbus Blue Jackets acquired center Jordan Schroeder in a trade with the Minnesota Wild.
In exchange for the 26-year-old Schroeder, the Wild on Friday got minor-league center Dante Salituro.
Schroeder played in 37 games for the Wild last season, recording six goals and seven assists. He has 17 goals and 23 assists in 144 career NHL games with the Wild and Vancouver Canucks since making his NHL debut in 2012-13.
Senators beat Blackhawks 4-3 for 3rd straight win
CHICAGO (AP) — Mike Condon was 10 years old the last time Ottawa got a win in Chicago. Yup, it had been that long.
Condon made 23 saves, Derick Brassard and Tom Pyatt scored 10 seconds apart during Ottawa's three-goal second period, and the Senators beat the Blackhawks 4-3 on Tuesday night for their third consecutive victory.
Blackhawks F Tyler Motte sidelined by lower body injury
CHICAGO (AP) — Blackhawks forward Tyler Motte will be sidelined for two to three weeks with a lower body injury.
Motte got hurt when he was ridden into the boards by Dallas Stars forward Radek Faksa during the second period of Chicago's 4-3 overtime win on Sunday night.
The 21-year-old Motte was off to a nice start in his first NHL season, with three goals and three assists in 13 games.
