Jaguars exercise 1-year, $3.5M option on TE Marcedes Lewis
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars look as if they will keep veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis around at least another year.
Jacksonville exercised club options Tuesday on Lewis and backup offensive linemen Tyler Shatley and Josh Wells.
The 33-year-old Lewis is the longest-tenured player on the team's roster. He is due to make $3.5 million in 2018.
Jaguars will be without starting center Linder against Rams
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without starting center Brandon Linder for the second consecutive week because of an unspecified illness.
Coach Doug Marrone ruled Linder out Friday, saying Tyler Shatley will start against the Los Angeles Rams (3-2).
Marrone says Linder is not contagious and was able to do some conditioning Friday, but he declined to speculate how long the fourth-year pro would be sidelined.
Jaguars rule out starting center Linder, promote Reed
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars have ruled out starting center Brandon Linder for Sunday's game at Pittsburgh.
The team says Linder (illness) and receiver Jaelen Strong (hamstring) did not make the trip.
Jaguars re-sign offensive lineman Shatley, adding depth
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars have re-signed offensive lineman Tyler Shatley, keeping another player expected to add depth next season.
The Jaguars also re-signed offensive tackle Josh Wells last week. Shatley, Wells and receiver Allen Hurns made the opening-day roster as undrafted rookies in 2014. All three have signed new contracts in the last nine months — most recently Shatley on Tuesday — solid finds for general manager Dave Caldwell and his staff.
Jaguars re-sign oft-injured offensive tackle Josh Wells
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars have re-signed offensive tackle Josh Wells.
Wells is the third potential free agent to remain in Jacksonville this week, following defensive tackle Abry Jones and receiver Arrelious Benn.
Jaguars’ Beachum released from hospital after concussion
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Jacksonville Jaguars left tackle Kelvin Beachum has been released from a hospital in San Diego and is on his way home.
Beachum sustained a concussion in the third quarter of Sunday's 38-14 loss to the Chargers. He was strapped to a backboard, carted off the field and taken to a local hospital, where he stayed overnight for observation.
The team says Beachum has been placed in the NFL's concussion protocol.
