Police in Fayette County said troopers responded to the Holiday Inn Express in South Union Township at about 2 p.m. Tuesday found the 25-year-old victim in the lobby "with a wound to his neck and a blood trail from the lobby to a nearby room." He was pronounced dead at Uniontown Hospital.

UNIONTOWN, Pa. (AP) — State police say a suspect was arrested after a stabbing death at a western Pennsylvania hotel on Christmas Day.
Police in Fayette County said troopers responded to the Holiday Inn Express off Route 40 in South Union Township at about 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said a suspect was in custody but released no other information about that person, the victim or the circumstances of the stabbing.
West Virginia University suspends fraternity, students
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia University has suspended a fraternity chapter and several students after a student fell while visiting at the fraternity house.
The university said 22-year-old senior finance major David Rusko of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, fell down stairs at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon house on Saturday. WVU said in a news release that Rusko was left unconscious by the fall and was taken to a hospital.

UNIONTOWN, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a driverless garbage truck barreled down a western Pennsylvania hill and rammed into a police station, damaging the building and police cars. No injuries were reported.
Capt. David Rutter of Uniontown police said his car was demolished in the accident shortly before 9:30 a.m. Monday. He estimated damage at "tens of thousands of dollars."

Uniontown Police on Monday arrested an 18-year-old Uniontown Area High School student for allegedly making threats about a school shooting that was planned for Tuesday.
Tate Nathanial Ternitsky, who lists a Belle Vernon mailing address in court documents, was arraigned Monday on charges of risking a catastrophe, making terroristic threats and disorderly conduct before District Judge Michael Metros. He was released on $100,000 unsecured bond pending a preliminary hearing.

Fayette County was among the hardest hit areas, with Uniontown reporting heavy winds that the National Westher Service in Pittsburgh determined was an F-1 tornado, packing winds up to 105 mph. Weather service personnel toured the damaged area along Morgantown Street in Uniontown to survey the damage and make an assessment that a tornado struck the area.
A Uniontown woman said she is running for the state Senate to get results in Harrisburg.
Democrat Pam Gerard, 62, said residents of southwestern Pennsylvania have waited too long for action to address the area’s problems. Gerard is expected to face Republican state Sen. Pat Stefano in the general election.
She said she may be operating on a shoestring budget, but she believes her grassroots campaign will draw support.

The National Weather Service also says the tornado that touched down in Uniontown at about 6:45 p.m. Thursday was the first tornado to strike the region in February since 1950.
