Law hit go-ahead basket as Northwestern holds off Rutgers
PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — After sitting out a game with a knee injury and spending most of the night shaking off the rust, senior Vic Law delivered for Northwestern with the game on the line against Rutgers.
Law shook off a dismal shooting night to hit a go-ahead drive with 4:25 to play and Northwestern held off Rutgers 65-57 on Friday night after twice blowing 10-point seconds-half leads.
Weiskamp leads Iowa over Northwestern 73-63
EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) — With leading scorer Tyler Cook out of the lineup, someone had to step up for Iowa to fill the void.

EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) — A.J. Turner got a second chance and made the most of it.
Turner hit a 3-pointer with 10.1 seconds left to give Northwestern a 68-66 victory over rival Illinois on Sunday, the Wildcats' first Big Ten win of the season.
The junior forward missed a wild 3-point attempt with just under 20 seconds left, but Dererk Pardon grabbed the rebound and threw it back out to Turner for the game-winning basket.
Northwestern shrugs off slow start, beats Columbia 75-54
EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) — At first glance, Northwestern's game with Columbia on Sunday appeared little more than a tuneup following a nine-day layoff.
Coach Chris Collins, though, had no such expectations.
Vic Law had 21 points, five rebounds and five assists, Ryan Taylor also scored 21 and Northwestern overcame a sluggish start for a 75-54 victory over Columbia.

EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) — Kristian Doolittle scored three straight key baskets late in overtime, and Oklahoma defeated Northwestern 76-69 on Friday night for its seventh straight win.
Doolittle, who finished with a team-leading 14 points, connected on layups 50 seconds apart, then added a close-in jumper with 19 seconds left in overtime to make it 74-69. Miles Reynolds sealed it with layup with three seconds remaining.
Kopp, Law lead Northwestern rout of Chicago State, 88-46
EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) — Coming off an extended break, Northwestern struggled through an uneven first few minutes on Monday night. Freshman Miller Kopp helped make sure the issues didn't last.
Kopp scored a career-high 17 points and Vic Law added another 17 as the Wildcats defeated Chicago State 88-46.
"I think just at the beginning of the game, my teammates just found me in the right spots," Kopp said. "We pushed tempo, and it got them in some tough positions and got me open."
Northwestern rallies from 15 points down, beats DePaul 75-68
EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) — Trailing by 15 points with less than 10 minutes to go, Northwestern appeared headed for a third straight loss.
The players, though, weren't ready to accept that fate.
Vic Law had 25 points, A.J. Turner added a career-high 24 and the Wildcats used a run of 25 straight points to rally for a 75-68 victory over DePaul on Saturday.

ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) — Scottie Lindsey had 19 points, six rebounds and four assists, Vic Law added 15 points and Northwestern used a strong second half to pull away for an 81-50 victory over Sacred Heart on Friday night.
Derek Pardon had 11 points and six rebounds and Gavin Skelly had 10 points.
Northwestern (4-2) won comfortably despite shooting 9 of 27 on 3-pointers in the game. Bryant McIntosh (nine points) was just 1 for 5 on 3-pointers.
Thomas’ career-high 24 leads Creighton over No. 20 N’Western
ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) — Although Creighton jumped out to a big lead early, Khyri Thomas believed his team would have to overcome adversity to win Wednesday night.
He was right.
Thomas had a career-high 24 points, 11 rebounds and five assists, Martin Krampelj added a career-high 17 points and Creighton beat No. 20 Northwestern 92-88 in a Gavitt Tipoff Games matchup.
"Our guys fought," Thomas said. "That's what we preach. Just fight, be tough and be the better men."
