The team announced the move Friday. Rattay succeeds Kevin O'Connell in the job after O'Connell was promoted to offensive coordinator.
Rattay spent the past four years as quarterbacks coach at Louisiana Tech. He played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2006 when now-Redskins coach Jay Gruden was an offensive assistant.

The team announced O'Connell's promotion Tuesday along with other changes to Jay Gruden's coaching staff. Matt Cavanaugh, who had been offensive coordinator the past two seasons, is now the Redskins' senior offensive assistant.
Florida hires former Redskins assistant Gray as CBs coach
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida has hired Torrian Gray as its cornerbacks coach, bringing him back to Gainesville to replace Charlton Warren.
Warren left the Gators to take a similar position at rival Georgia.
Gray, who has 19 years of coaching experience, worked at Florida during the 2016 season. He spent the last two years with the NFL's Washington Redskins before being fired in January.

The team announced the move Saturday.
Kaczor replaces Ben Kotwica, who joined the Atlanta Falcons this month after five years with the Redskins.
Joe Gibbs’ eldest son dies at 49 from neurological disease
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Joe Gibbs Racing says co-founder J.D. Gibbs, the eldest son of team owner and Pro Football Hall of Fame coach Joe Gibbs, has died. He was 49.
The team announced J.D. Gibbs' death on Saturday, saying he passed from complications following a long battle with a degenerative neurological disease. It was revealed in 2015 that he was dealing with "conditions related to brain function." He was serving as president of JGR at the time.

Falcons hire Kotwica from Redskins to lead special teams
FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) — Atlanta Falcons coach Dan Quinn has continued to reshape his staff by hiring special teams coordinator Ben Kotwica.
The 44-year-old Kotwica directed the Washington Redskins' special teams the last five years.
Wednesday's hiring of Kotwica came one day after Quinn brought Dirk Koetter and Mike Mularkey back to the Falcons as offensive coordinator and tight ends coach, respectively.
Quinn said he expects Kotwica to bring "an attacking attitude" to Atlanta's special teams.
Redskins’ Reuben Foster has domestic violence charge dropped
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Prosecutors have decided not to pursue a domestic violence charge against Washington Redskins linebacker Reuben Foster, though the NFL continues to review the matter.
Prosecutors in Tampa, Florida, filed a notice of termination of prosecution on Wednesday. The notice states that the first-degree misdemeanor battery charge is dismissed and there is no need for Foster to appear at any future court hearings.

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — D.J. Swearinger, released abruptly by the Washington Redskins this week after publicly criticizing the defensive coaching, didn't need much time to find a landing place.
He's back in Arizona with the Cardinals, where he played part of 2015 and all of the 2016 season.

Swearinger early in the day told a radio station in Washington D.C. he'd been cut with one game remaining in the regular season. He said on 106.7 The Fan that Redskins coach Jay Gruden did not give him an explanation for the move.
"I don't regret nothing, because I know I gave 100 percent effort from my heart," Swearinger said.
The Redskins later Monday sent out a release with the transaction.
