Police: DNA, phone calls link man to widow’s killing
WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) — Recently unsealed court records show that DNA and phone calls among other evidence led police to link a man to the killing of a widowed teacher inside her home.
William Bayarinas has been charged with murder, burglary and home invasion in the death of 70-year-old Maryann Kibbe-Stanisz.
Kibbe-Stanisz was found dead in her Watertown home Jan. 9, five days after Bayarinas was released from jail.
Teen in crash that killed toddler pleads guilty

Ex-football player charged with hazing teammate

WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) — An 81-year-old man charged with murder in the strangulation death of his 76-year-old girlfriend in a nursing home told an employee that she was evil and had to die, authorities said Monday.
John Jensen was arrested Saturday at Autumn Lake Healthcare at Bucks Hill in Waterbury. He was originally charged with attempted murder. Police said the victim, 76-year-old Patricia Way, died the next day at St. Mary's Hospital.
