Auburn’s Pearl signs 5-member recruiting class
AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Auburn coach Bruce Pearl has signed a five-member recruiting class to build on a Southeastern Conference championship season.
The class announced Monday includes prospects Babatunde Akingbola, Allen Flanigan, Tyrell Jones, Isaac Okoro and Jaylin Williams.
The class was ranked No. 10 nationally by 247Sports and 11th by ESPN.
Okoro, a 6-foot-6 forward from Powder Springs, Georgia, is a consensus Top 50 player. The other four are also rated as four-star recruits.
Auburn hires Wes Flanigan as men’s basketball assistant
AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Auburn has hired former Arkansas-Little Rock head basketball coach Wes Flanigan as an assistant.
Tigers coach Bruce Pearl announced the hiring of the ex-Auburn point guard on Monday.
Flanigan was a four-year starter at Auburn from 1993-97 and led the Southeastern Conference in assists as a junior.
Arkansas-Little Rock hires Walker as its new coach
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Former Toronto Raptors coach Darrell Walker has been hired as the coach at Arkansas-Little Rock.
Walker's hiring follows the firing of former coach Wes Flanigan this month after a school-record 25 losses by the Trojans. The 57-year-old Walker most recently spent two seasons as the coach at Division II Clark Atlanta University, where he was 45-18.
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — The University of Arkansas at Little Rock has fired its basketball coach after his team lost a school-record 25 games.
Wes Flanigan's team ended the season with a 29-point loss to Appalachian State in the Sun Belt Tournament on Wednesday. The school fired Flanigan on Friday, two years after he was hired.
Athletic director Chasse Conque said the school's goal is to compete for championships.
