PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Center Enes Kanter has joined the Portland Trail Blazers.
Kanter was waived by the New York Knicks along with Wesley Matthews following the trade deadline last week. Kanter announced Wednesday on Twitter that he had signed with the Blazers for the rest of the season. The deal was first reported by ESPN.

Matthews did not travel to Chicago. He played 31 minutes in a win over Oklahoma City on Saturday.

Lowry had 20 points and 12 assists, Kawhi Leonard scored 21 points and Toronto set a franchise record with its sixth straight win to start the season, beating the Dallas Mavericks 116-107 on Friday night.
Jonas Valanciunas scored 17 points, Danny Green had 15 and Serge Ibaka finished with 11 as the Raptors eclipsed the 5-0 start they recorded in 2015-16.
DALLAS (AP) — Mavericks guard Wesley Matthews has a broken bone in his lower right leg and is likely to miss the rest of the season.
The team says the 31-year-old Matthews was injured in the first quarter against Memphis on Saturday. The nine-year veteran played into the fourth quarter of the Mavericks' 114-80 win.
The injury was announced Monday as a fracture to the right proximal fibula, just below the knee. Dallas (21-46) already has been eliminated from playoff contention.

DALLAS (AP) — The Dallas Mavericks' first win in a couple weeks was quite a relief for Wesley Matthews and company.
Matthews scored a season-high 22 points, and the Mavericks stopped a four-game slide with a 111-79 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night.

Mavericks stops 6-game slide with victory over Wizards
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Dallas Mavericks love coming to Washington.
Harrison Barnes scored 31 points, rookie Dennis Smith Jr. had 22 and the Mavericks snapped a six-game losing streak with a 113-99 victory over John Wall and the Wizards on Tuesday night.
Dallas has won nine straight in Washington dating to 2008 and 14 of the last 15 meetings overall.

Mavs leave Carlisle and veterans players at home
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle did not make the trip to Orlando for a preseason game against the Magic due to illness.
Dallas officials said associate head coach Melvin Hunt will stand in for Carlisle on Thursday night.
Carlisle was not alone in not making the trip. Veterans Dirk Nowitzki, Wesley Matthews, Harrison Barnes, Nerlens Noel, J.J. Barea, Josh McRoberts and Devin Harris also will not be in Orlando to face the Magic.

DALLAS (AP) — Harrison Barnes thrived in a new position on Thursday night, and so did the Mavericks.
Barnes made the go-ahead basket, then stole the ball from Blake Griffin with 3.9 seconds left as Dallas beat the Los Angeles Clippers 97-95.
Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle started a big lineup, with Barnes moving from power forward to small forward.

Noel returns but Matthews out in Mavs’ game at Wizards
WASHINGTON (AP) — Forward Nerlens Noel will return for the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night in Washington, but guard Wesley Matthews is out with a calf injury.
Noel had missed Dallas' past three games with a sore right knee.
The sixth overall pick in the 2013 draft, Noel is averaging 11.3 points and 9.0 rebounds. He joined the Mavericks from Philadelphia in a deal near last month's trade deadline.
