2 pilots eject when Air Force jet veers off runway in Texas
WICHITA FALLS, Texas (AP) — The U.S. Air Force says two pilots were injured slightly after ejecting when a twin-jet training aircraft veered off a runway before takeoff at a northwestern Texas Air Force base.
Officials say the accident involved a T-38 Talon aircraft. It happened shortly after 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sheppard Air Force Base near Wichita Falls, Texas.
The aircraft was assigned to the 80th Flying Training Wing based at Sheppard.
Texas retail gas prices down penny before holiday weekend

Oklahoma kidnapping suspect killed by Texas authorities
WICHITA FALLS, Texas (AP) — Authorities have fatally shot a man suspected of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend in Oklahoma as he was stabbing her following a high-speed chase in Texas.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said that after the pursuit ended Thursday morning in North Texas the suspect and the woman got of the vehicle and the suspect began stabbing her with a large knife. Troopers then shot the suspect, who died at the scene.

Insulation company to close Maine plant, move to Texas

Car theft suspect steals patrol car, leads police on chase
WICHITA FALLS, Texas (AP) — Authorities in Wichita Falls say a man stopped as a car theft suspect got into a scuffle with the officer who tried to detain him and then stole the officer's patrol car, driving into him and leading police on a chase that ended with him being taken into custody about 15 minutes later at Sheppard Air Force Base.
Police say the officer is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Land survey begins as Texas ranchers fear property seizure
WICHITA FALLS, Texas (AP) — Workers have begun surveying private land in North Texas along the Red River as part of a federal review that's drawn heavy criticism from property owners who say the government is trying to seize their land.

Roxanne Jones sued the Iowa Park Consolidated Independent School District on behalf of the estate of her son, T.G. Garcia. The lawsuit, filed Oct. 25 in Wichita Falls, says the boy in 2014 fatally shot himself while at home.

Dallam-Hartley County Jail records show 23-year-old Jermar Jamie Fuller of Wichita Falls was being held Tuesday on $4 million bond. No attorney was listed to speak for Fuller, who faces return to Wichita Falls.

Texas man survives tumble into trash compactor
WICHITA FALLS, Texas (AP) — Fire officials in Texas say a man who apparently was sleeping in a dumpster survived when he and the trash in the bin were dumped into a trash truck, compacted and then hauled to a transfer station.
Workers at the transfer station in Wichita Falls saw the man tumble Friday from the truck into a large garbage pit.
Wichita Falls police: Man found shot in park dies
WICHITA FALLS, Texas (AP) — Wichita Falls police are investigating after a man found in a park suffering from gunshot wounds died.
Police spokesman Sgt. Harold McClure said officers were flagged down Tuesday night after a man was discovered on the ground.
McClure said the man was taken to a hospital where he died. He said the man's identity won't be released until his family is notified.
He said officials do not know if the man was shot in Lucy Park or somewhere else.
