Jones with 23 helps Arkansas beat Georgia 70-60
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas guard Mason Jones scored 23 points and added six rebounds to help his team fend off Georgia 70-60 on Tuesday night. The Razorbacks (12-8, 3-4 Southeastern Conference) survived the Dawgs' 54-30 advantage on the boards, but a dreadful combination of 16 turnovers and 15-for-29 free-throw shooting put the visitors in a bind and kept the Hogs afloat.
Georgia holds off Oakland comeback, wins 81-69
ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Twice up by 17 points, Georgia was staring at a two-point lead against Oakland with five minutes to go and a nightmarish memory.
But the Bulldogs showed signs of progress, pulling away late for an 81-69 victory on Tuesday night. It was a reversal of Saturday's 76-74 loss to No. 20 Arizona State when the Bulldogs blew an 18-point lead.
Missouri pulls away in 2nd half to beat Georgia 68-56
COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — Missouri's Jontay Porter didn't hesitate. Jordan Geist flung a pass to the freshman forward, who took one step, jumped over 6-foot-8 Georgia forward Yante Maten and crashed the ball into the net.
The crowd at Mizzou Arena erupted, foreshadowing the explosiveness Missouri would have in the second half on Wednesday night. On the drive after Porter's dunk, Geist stole the ball from William Jackson III and made the layup to cut Georgia's lead to three at the halftime buzzer.
