Extreme cold leads to saltwater spills at North Dakota wells
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Cold temperatures contributed to three recent saltwater spills at oil and gas wells in the North Dakota oil patch.
The state Oil and Gas Division says the spills happened Friday near New Town and Williston and Saturday near Manning. They totaled 940 barrels, or nearly 39,500 gallons.
All three leaks were contained on-site, and most of the spilled saltwater has already been recovered. Saltwater, or brine, is a byproduct of energy production.
Leak spills 10,300 gallons of brine at Williams County well
WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) — A valve or piping connection leak is being blamed for a spill of nearly 10,300 gallons of saltwater at a well in Williams County.
The state Oil and Gas Division says Oasis Petroleum North American LLC on Wednesday reported the spill of 245 barrels of brine at the well about 7 miles southeast of Williston. Brine, or saltwater, is a byproduct of oil production.

Thirty-year-old Bryan Ray Walker, of Alexander, was killed and the driver of the other pickup was injured in the crash on a road west of Mandaree Thursday morning.

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) — Authorities have identified a Texas man who died in a crash in the western North Dakota oil patch.
The Highway Patrol says 26-year-old Daniel Navarrete-Resendiz of Perryton, Texas, was driving a pickup that went in the ditch and struck a light pole in the Williston area shortly after 12:30 a.m. Monday.
The pole fell on the driver's side of the pickup, which was licensed by a well service company. Navarrete-Resendiz was declared dead at the scene.
Pickup crash kills 1 in Williston
WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) — One person is dead after a pickup crashed into a light pole in Williston.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the pickup drifted into the ditch and struck the pole, which fell on the driver's side. The pickup continued to spin in the ditch. The 26-year-old driver died at the scene of the early Monday crash.
The name of the driver was not released. The crash remains under investigation.
Man found guilty in Williston shooting death
WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) — A jury has convicted a Minot man accused in a shooting death in Williston.
KFGO radio reports 28-year-old Alex Eggleston was found guilty Friday of murder and having a gun as a felon. Eggelston claimed self-defense in the shooting death of Vance Neset in the parking lot of a Williston hotel in July 2017.
3 Williston residents killed in McKenzie County crash
KEENE, N.D. (AP) — Three Williston residents died when a sport utility vehicle crashed head-on into a semitrailer in McKenzie County.
The Highway Patrol says the SUV crossed into the wrong lane at a roundabout on state Highway 23 north of Keene shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday, hitting the semi.
The three SUV occupants died at the scene. They were identified as 68-eight-year-old driver Jim Livengood and two passengers — 68-year-old Elizabeth Livengood and 45-year-old Tina Livengood.

Fargo Municipal Airport Authority executive director Shawn Dobberstein said the Cessna Citation II left the runway after touching down Friday afternoon. Dobberstein did not know how many people were aboard the plane.
Flight records indicate the plane had left Williston, in northwestern North Dakota, at 12:51 p.m. and landed in Fargo at 1:49 p.m.
Celebration of lives set for 3 killed in air ambulance crash
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The three people killed in an air ambulance crash in Morton County will be remembered at a public service Monday.
A joint celebration of lives will be held at 10 a.m. at the Bismarck Event Center for pilot Todd Lasky and nurse Bonnie Cook, both of Bismarck, and paramedic Chris Iverson, of Mandan. Doors open at 9 a.m.
Lasky and Iverson worked for Bismarck Air Medical and Cook for CHI St. Alexius Health.
Victims of air ambulance crash in North Dakota identified
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Authorities have identified the three people who died when an air ambulance plane crashed in western North Dakota.
Morton County identified the victims as 48-year-old pilot Todd Lasky and 63-year-old nurse Bonnie Cook, both of Bismarck, and 47-year-old paramedic Chris Iverson, of Mandan.
Lasky and Iverson worked for Bismarck Air Medical and Cook for CHI St. Alexius Health.
