EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Oregon women's volleyball coach Jim Moore is stepping down after 12 seasons.
Oregon announced Wednesday night that Moore is retiring as of May 15. The school said in a statement that Moore and the Ducks "have come to realize that his coaching style is mismatched" with Oregon's standards.
"He has acknowledged that his coaching style may have been viewed negatively by some student-athletes and for that he is sorry," the statement said.
HONOLULU (AP) — University of Hawaii head women's volleyball coach Dave Shoji has officially announced his retirement and one of his former players and assistant coaches has taken over for him.
Monday's announcement comes after UH officials revealed plans earlier this month to launch a nationwide search for the next person to lead the team in anticipation of Shoji's retirement.
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi University for Women says the NCAA has approved its exploratory application for Division III membership.
The school will offer its first intercollegiate athletics programs since 2002.

HONOLULU (AP) — University of Hawaii officials say they have launched a nationwide search to replace head women's volleyball coach Dave Shoji in anticipation of his retirement.
Shoji has been on medical leave since December, when he announced he was undergoing treatment for prostate cancer. Associate head coach Jeff Hall has been serving in Shoji's place.

Coach Dave Shoji said in a press release that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer a few weeks ago and will be undergoing treatment. Associate head coach Jeff Hall will take over while the 70-year-old Shoji is out.
