DENVER (AP) — What was perhaps Kelly Clark's most memorable trip down a halfpipe had nothing to do with winning.

It was the Winter X Games in 2011. Clark had already secured the title. With one lap left — a victory lap, as they call it in snowboarding — she decided to try something no woman had ever done. She became the first to land a 1080 — that's twisting three revolutions above the halfpipe — in competition.

BERN, Switzerland (AP) — Former Olympic champion Iouri Podladtchikov has broken his nose again after crashing in a snowboard halfpipe World Cup comeback.

Switzerland's ski federation says in a statement that Podladtchikov also sustained a concussion in the heavy fall at the Secret Garden event in China on Friday.

Footage of the fall showed the 30-year-old snowboarder — known as I-Pod — catch the top edge of the halfpipe with his board. His face then struck the hard snow.

PYEONGCHANG, South Korea (AP) — Olympic halfpipe champion Iouri Podladtchikov won't defend his title due to injuries sustained last month at the Winter X Games.

The gold medalist, known as the I-Pod, practiced on the Olympic halfpipe Friday, but afterward said it would be "totally unreasonable" for him to compete.

PYEONGCHANG, South Korea (AP) — Shaun White sat on the couch at home and watched history's best halfpipe contest unfold.

He's planning on making the next contest — the one where they hand out the Olympic gold medal — an even better show.

ASPEN, Colo. (AP) — Injured Olympic halfpipe champion Iouri Podladtchikov tweeted a picture of himself in a hospital gown along with the message "I am doing OK," after a scary wreck at the Winter X Games.

The snowboarder known as the I-Pod has a broken nose, but scans showed no signs of brain or neck trauma.

In one tweet, posted late Monday, he says: "Thank you so much for all the messages. I am so sorry for the mess of yesterday. I am doing OK."

Podladtchikov was taken to the hospital, where scans for brain and neck injuries came back negative. X Games officials said he suffered a broken nose and was awake and alert late Sunday night.

ASPEN, Colo. (AP) — Shaun White has withdrawn from the Winter X Games so he can return home to rest for the Olympics.

White caught the flu last week. He was practicing in Aspen this week but notified event organizers he would not compete. He leaves for Pyeongchang next Saturday.

Taking White's place in the lineup for Sunday's halfpipe contest is Toby Miller, the 17-year-old American who has been training and spending a lot of time with White.

Five years ago, he lost his older brother after a snowmobile crash at the Winter X Games.

A year ago, he broke his back while attempting a double backflip in Aspen, Colorado, and spent months relearning to walk.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Kevin "K-Rob" Robinson, a former professional BMX rider who set a world record for the longest power-assisted bicycle backflip, has died. He was 45.

His wife, Robin Adams Robinson, told The Providence Journal the Rhode Island native suffered an apparent stroke Saturday. She said his death was unexpected.

The next Olympics are still a year away, and already, Shaun White is thinking about the games after that.

And it has nothing to do with the halfpipe.

The world's best-known snowboarder tells The Associated Press he's exploring competing at the Tokyo Summer Olympics in skateboarding, which will be added to the program for 2020.

"It's right there in the distance for me," White said.

ASPEN, Colo. (AP) — This time, the question came to Shaun White from an airplane pilot, though the pilot was hardly the first one to ask it of late: Are you still riding?

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (AP) — Winter X Games champion Danny Davis' latest injury came far from the halfpipe.

The snowboarder was chopping firewood at his home in California last month when the ax slid off the wood and into his right hand, cutting through tendons.

He traveled to Colorado for surgery, and is now in a cast to restrict movement.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — ESPN's X Games will be held in Minneapolis in 2017 and 2018, with many of the events being held in the Minnesota Vikings' glittering new stadium, the network announced Wednesday.

"We're definitely pumped," X Games vice president Tim Reed said. He cited the "young, vibrant aspect" of Minneapolis and the support of the city and state for the bid. He called the new, $1.1 billion stadium that opens this summer "a beautiful building."
