Utah Valley closed the first half on a 27-8 run for a 40-30 lead and Wyatt Lowell opened the second half with a 3-pointer for a 13-point lead — the largest advantage of the game. UMKC got it to single digits from 17:32 on but couldn't get closer than two points the rest of the way.

Balanced UMKC races past Haskell 110-59 in home opener
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Jordan Giles scored 21 points, Mo Ahmed and Xavier Bishop 18 each, and UMKC led from wire-to-wire in a 110-59 defeat of Haskell on Sunday.
The Kangaroos (1-1) had a school-record 20 steals and scored 33 points off 28 turnovers in the dominating performance against NAIA member Haskell, leading by 54 late in the game. The 110 points is also a school record.
UMKC piles up biggest margin of season 102-72 over Seattle
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Kyle Steward scored 20 points, Isaiah Ross added 16 more and Missouri-Kansas City rolled to its largest margin of victory this season with a 102-72 win over Seattle on Saturday night.
It was the first time since 2009 that UMKC (14-13, 6-4 Western Athletic Conference) has reached triple digits in a non-overtime game.
New Mexico St. rolls over UMKC 94-71 for 16th-straight win
LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — Ian Baker scored 20 points and Jemerrio Jones had 15 points and 14 rebounds to lead New Mexico State to a commanding 94-71 win against UMKC on Saturday night for its 16th-straight win.
The Aggies haven't lost since Nov. 18 and are tied with Oregon for the third-longest active winning streak in the country. Gonzaga has the longest at 19 and Kansas has 18.
Randolph leads Utah Valley to 1st WAC win, tops UMKC 86-76
OREM, Utah (AP) — Brandon Randolph scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Utah Valley broke into the win column in Western Athletic Conference play with an 86-76 win over UMKC on Saturday night.
The Wolverines bounced back from a loss to Chicago State Thursday night with a strong finish against UMKC, extending a four-point halftime lead into a double-digit advantage in the closing minutes.
UMKC cruises to 93-71 win over Division II William Jewell
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — LaVell Boyd had 21 points and six assists as UMKC rolled to a 93-71 victory over Division II William Jewell on Saturday.
The Kangaroos (7-4) bounced back from a 105-62 loss to No. 3 Kansas on Tuesday and snapped a two-game skid.
UMKC beats Division II Arkansas-Monticello 97-82
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — LaVell Boyd made four 3-pointers and scored 21 points, freshman Xavier Bishop had a season-best 17 points, and UMKC beat Division II Arkansas-Monticello 97-82 on Friday night.
Boyd scored 10 points in the first 10 minutes as UMKC had a 21-15 lead, but he was held scoreless for the rest of the half. In the second half, Isaiah Ross made back-to-back 3-pointers to extend UMKC's lead to 71-60 with 10:17 remaining.
